Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Quarantine and dog shows like crufts

My OH asked me a question last night that I wanted to find out the answer to.  There were lots of dogs from other countries at crufts, how do these dogs not have to go through quarantine? Or if they go through the dog passport scheme I thought you had to get them tested or have a blood test or something within a certain time window before you went home i.e if you took a dog on holiday, you had to find a vet in that country to do certain tests before you could go home.

Perhaps show dogs get special dispensation, but just wondered.

Thanks

They will have a pet passport where initially the have to wait 6 months after an acceptable titre test result however once that initial wait is over so long as the rabies vacination is kept up to date all they have to do is make sure that the dog is wormed and treated for fleas and ticks  before entering  the uk.
