Following on from the 'dreams' thread I was thinking how nice it would be to have a doggy dream. As I am typing this my boy is 'running' and making excited little yelps - all in his sleep of course! Neither of my dogs ever seem to have unpleasant dreams unlike people. Then again they don't really experience anything unpleasant - unless to a dog lots of cuddles, walks and food is unpleasant!

I know what you mean!! :)

Mitz always has funny happy dreams of running, and she has dreams where she acts like shes suckling as a puppy! awwwww!

I cant tell if my dogs dreams are happy or bad . I can only assume that when they are twitching and yelping in their sleep it's not a good dream.

Twitching and yelping is generally a good dream - they seem to be acting out a very exciting rabbit chase - mine often thump their tails at the same time! Their bad dreams are when their hackles rise and they growl.

It's funny to watch, my labs pretend they are running, they also make high pitched noises with their lip twitching. i love watching them when they have doggy dreams.

I was woken up one night with my staff doing a low grumbling growl which was nothing like her usual play growl.  It was then followed by a howl like a wolf - OMG I nearly wet myself and thought we had burglars but she then starting snoring and it was in her dream.  Weird!

Oohh i havn't seen them have one of those.

I have noticed that after visiting my brother and his horrible vicious dog that they have very animated dreams, with lots of whimpering and twitching,I've always thought they were having nightmares about his dog attacking them.

I'd assume they're having marvellous dreams of retaliation, and they're enjoying beating him up!

One of mine had a really happy dream yesterday :)  her tail was going in circles, wagging up and down and side to side madly!  nothing else moved and no sounds but she woke her daughter up who looked at her and then me as if to say "what is she up to now?" LOL  They often have dreams, some feisty where they save us from marauding cats and see off bad dogs :) some happy where they're chasing madly, and some puppy type sucky dreams but I've never seen a waggy dream like that before :-D
