Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts Sunday who is going to be there?
- By Dill [gb] Date 06.03.08 15:05 UTC
Her Ladyship is definately NOT going to Crufts :) but I'm still going with OH and child.

As I'll be there for fun rather than showing, who is going to be there too? I'll be checking out Discover Dogs and also having a look at some of the breed showing.  I'd love to say hello if you're there :-D

Where can I find out about ticket prices for child?   We have our passes but Little-Un will have to pay on the day ;)

We are Sunday too.  Praying it isnt too busy. We have been moved to Hall 1 this year.
- By Dill [gb] Date 06.03.08 15:36 UTC
If I can find you in the madness will say HI :) :)
- By Soli Date 06.03.08 15:38 UTC
Hall 5, ring 34, Pharaoh Hounds, second in ring after Ibizan hounds which start at 10am.

I think the ticket price for a child (5 - 15) is £9 and can be bought on the door.

Dill, bit naughty but, I went today with a couple of friends, we only had two tickets between the 3 of us (a spare person dog ticket and my cani-x dog ticket which you hang onto as its valid any day) my friends had the two tickets and I just walked through shuffling around with my envelope - I didnt get challenged once !!  (would only work on the dog doors though, we did this last year and we all had tickets but no one stopped us !) should work fine with a child :)

Hall 1 ring 7..........
I'd guess you will be visiting this hall as priority!
A small group, B/T dog, child vivid redhead

   I couldn't do that!!  last time I tried they made OH buy a ticket! He was lugging all the stuff at the time, I was like Lady muck just waking the dog :-D   We then registered the next dog as joint owned ;)   with my Luck it would happen to Little-Un too  ;)

We don't mind paying a bit ;)

I just hope dogs will be Ok as Daughter has to work a few hours, normally I wouldn't worry but...... ;)
- By Dill [gb] Date 06.03.08 23:29 UTC
B/T ????   Border/Bull/Bedlington???  Terror ;)

I'll be starting off in hall 1 as that's where all the Bedlies are :)

ETA and of course the Lovely Manchesters :D :D :D

I wonder why many of us have been moved to Hall 1 from 2? Not that I'm complaining - previously our breeds benching has been split either side of the hall!
- By Dill [gb] Date 06.03.08 23:44 UTC
Wonder if they're trying to keep the breeds closer to their groups?  It's a pain if you want to see terriers and can't find them because they're all over the place ;)  Maybe management are hoping to cut down on people travelling all over the place all the time?  (not said that right but I know what I mean)
- By Dogz Date 07.03.08 07:44 UTC
Sorry....colour, blue tan.
Aussies.....
We are last in ring though !

Karen :-)

(Getting so excited......starts tonight, travelling on night boat.)

Will try to say hello before you go in then :)
- By The dachsie lad [gb] Date 07.03.08 19:49 UTC
Yep, we are there Sunday - hall 4, ring 24.  Getting ready to set out tomorrow morning and staying a couple of nights as hubby cannot manage the driving otherwise.
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.03.08 23:11 UTC
Well I tried !!!

Got to hall 5 and saw some lovely Elkies, saw the breed winner get his CC :-D  Had a natter to a Welsh couple I know who left theirs at home, but without a catalogue (OH had it) no hope of seeing Brainless :(

Tried to get to see others but with the crowds of shoppers - no hope

Was there early and went shopping early, had real trouble moving more than 3 feet at a time  got run over by pushchairs, trodden on, bashed, pushed and 'streamed'  bit like the current in an extremely slow moving river :(

Started off in hall 1, by the time I got to hall 3 I was ready to shout fire!!  GRRRR

Why is it that shoppers walk soooooooo sl  o  o  o  o  w  ly ???

So, if any of you were there and saw a bad tempered short woman in black (think Dawn French with a BIG chest ;) ) towing a child in a bright orange t-shirt ~ that was me !!  I did get what I needed, and child saw a bit of discover dogs (Biggest, smallest, most hairy, least hairy, dreadlocked, smelliest :-D etc. )  but it took all morning and then our breed was in the ring!

Hope you all had a successful time and enjoyed the melee that is the shopping areas

Grumpy ;)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 09.03.08 23:35 UTC
Oh bother where was I?  If it was around 2.30pm to 4pm then I was off eye testing.
- By Dill [gb] Date 10.03.08 10:44 UTC
It was about 10.30-11am maybe I was looking at the wrong end of the benching?   although I got a really good spot  for the dog CC, met some lovely Elkie Exhibitors and Elkies tho :)   Maybe you were ringside watching the Dog Challenge?  Lots of exhibitors were ;)

Regarding the crowds, On reflection, I actually think that it was less crowded than the Saturday last year - I just hate crowds of people - especially shopping crowds LOL

I'm a bit miffed with myself now.  I fancied a pair of shoes on a stall near the Bedingtons but thought I'd spent all my money only to get home to find I could have bought them :( :( :(  I won't see them at those prices again even if I could find them :( :(    Now, if I was a more enthusiastic shopper.....  :(

I was there on the Sunday on Discover Dogs. We were packed all day!!!
- By Dill [gb] Date 11.03.08 00:48 UTC
I felt really sorry for the poor folks in DD, it was sooo HOT and stifling :(   Pity they couldn't have opened some of the doors :(
- By Astarte Date 11.03.08 11:23 UTC

> it was sooo HOT and stifling

i thought that the days i was there dillmost of the dogs were just lying down looking knackered in the heat- especially the malamutes etc. i had an amazing time though! definately going next year!
- By Dill [gb] Date 11.03.08 13:00 UTC
I was there on Sunday and even at 11am most of the dogs looks whacked :(  especially the spitz breeds and longer full coated dogs :(  the owners weren't doing much better either :(
- By Gemini05 Date 11.03.08 13:04 UTC
How do you get your dogs into discover dogs?  I mean was you asked by the breed club to use your dogs in Discover dogs?? just curious xx
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 11.03.08 13:24 UTC

>I mean was you asked by the breed club to use your dogs in Discover dogs??

Certainly when I've done it I was contacted by the breed club and asked if I'd be willing volunteer. I'd guess it's the same for all breeds.
- By ice_queen Date 11.03.08 16:26 UTC
Yes thats about right.  The breed club asked people to volunteer in one way or another.  Most the time tere are people who regulary do it year in year out :)
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 12.03.08 08:06 UTC
Round DD was very hot. We had an end stand though which was quite open as it was a double one so I think it maybe wasn't quite as bad as being enclosed on both sides.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.03.08 09:51 UTC
People that are fairly new and enthusiastic in the breed made a loevly display for oru breed plannign it al on boards at home only to find everything falling off the sides due to the stifling heat.

Surely a venue like that can regualate the air conditioning better????  Not good for dogs at all.
