OK...last night I probably had one too many glasses of vino with a group of friends and so we got to contemplating all sorts of stupid questions and putting the world to rights etc etc.  One topic that was spoken about but which noone knew the answer to was as follows:  if you castrate a male dog you occasionally get the 'effeminisation' syndrome whereby he ends up putting out a female scent to all and sundry.  However, can the reverse happen?  In other words, if you spay a bitch does the scent she puts out change and if so can it become a masculine one?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Certainly spaying already dominant bitches can increase aggression, as female hormones normally have a softening effect.

Does the level of testosterone manufactured increase as well do you know?

I wouldn't have thought so, but because the others have been removed the testosterone will be uppermost.
