hello,
Toby my entire male insists on peeing on his/jessies bed.  I'm hoping someone can shed light on how to stop him, hes been doing it for months and i've had enough of washing it so often he will cock his leg over it and still sleep on it. He is clean in the rest of the house hes about 18 months old ckc,  I recently changed the bed to a nice big padded fleece lined cushion type which is all washable i just don't see the logic? help

Sorry can't advise you at all as not really had a problem like this. I did have it once last week when my terrier crossbreed - just turned a year old - went out into the garden for a wee, performed, and then came straight back in and weed in the dogs bed. As we were there at the time I told him off and put him straight outside again. Fingers crossed - he has not done it again.

The bed is shared with our older, much larger dog and I did wonder if it was him testing the waters (no pun intended) with our older dog. Both dogs are neutered and Cooper has been with us since last August. Our other dog is just over 2 1/2 so it could have been a marking territory incident although he didn't cock his leg just squatted and weed.

has he done this since the begining? 2, How do you react to the dog when you find the pee in his bed?

At 18 months he is reaching full maturity and will 'testing the waters' as already said ;-) If you see him do it tell him firmly 'no' and take him outside. Don't make a fuss or he may do it all the more just to get the attention :-( If you don't see him doing it then there isn't really much you can do to stop him I'm afraid. Make sure that the bedding is washed properly in biodegrable washing powder, as well as the bed itself. If he continues to do it I would remove the bed and just give him a blanket that is easy to wash. Hopefully he will grow out of it.

i've never seen him do it, but my brother in law has, i'm just at my wits end i'm tired of washing the bed all the time and the smell.  He goes out regually he doesn't do it anywhere else in the house, i did remove the bed for a while and he kept pulling things off the raditor and the tea towels off the hook to lye on.  is there anything i could put on the bed to put him off weeing on it?

I would remove the bed and just give him a piece of vet bed to lie on or a cotton doormat like mien like to use in the daytime in the kitchen.  I am assuming he doesn't pee on the tea towels when he pulls them down.

I suspect it may be that the bed has become impregnated with a small attracting him to pee on it, or even the cleaner smell is unpleasant (if it has ammonia in that would smell like another dog has peed on it, so he would want to cover it up) and he wants his own smell on it, and it is now a habit, take it away ans you break the habit.
