Thanks

I feed my dogs a raw diet but don't feed veg as a standard ingredient of their meals. My dogs like raw carrots as treats and broccoli stalks and I often give them the peelings from swede. My GR also likes bananas, tomatoes, apples and orange segments whereas our terrier is a bit fussier :)

Mine usually helps himself to a carrot or two when i'm not looking!! He'll come galloping into the lounge from the kitchen showing us his stolen carrot!

Can dogs eat fruit - I know about grapes but are apples and the like ok?

Our Mals love Orange,apple,banana,pear,peaches,nectarines-take stones away though.Every thing really. You are right about grapes and mushrooms are dodgy.I think potatoes raw can give tummy ache.Raisins, currants and sultanas are bad-like grapes. And I know that Advacdos are seriously poisonous for our parrot.Though don't know about dogs

My two are not keen on any green leafy veg apart from grass but even then they are picky!  One loves carrots and the other cauliflower as long as it's cooked.  Used to feed them a gloop made of green leafy veg, yogurt etc when they were pups but now I justs give them it as and when, I've not seen any change it their health or condition.   However, they both love fruit (except pineapple).  Every morning we share a large banana for breakfast before our morning run.

My boxers love carrots :-)

my younger hounds beg for broccoli stalks when I'm preppin a dinner....they also love banana, apple and strawberries....

I do feed mine some veg in with their raw diet, but I cheat and buy frozen mixed veg, and let it defrost with water, and then whizz it up in a hand blender before mixing it with the meat etc....they love it ;)

if we eat cooked veg with a roast dinner I cook enough to feed a family of 6 and they get their share too.....(there's only 2 of us 'oomans at home)

but anything other than grapes, onions is ok

Tried mine with some apple last night.  The boxer wasn't too sure until he saw the other dog eating it and then there was no stopping him!!  I'm going see what else I can dig out for them to try.....

Mine are fed on BARF so veg are a normal part of their diet.

All veg I steam first as in their raw form they don't digest or absorb the goodness. Most fruit is OK, apple pips are toxic so if you feed apples, de-pip them first, grapes are a definite NO as are raisins and sultanas. Potato's are very toxic in their raw form and should not be fed as they are a member of the deadly nightshade family, neither should onions. There are numerous sites on the Net and also books that you can get information from but always be cautious especially when feeding Pups ;)

Sorry yes I meant to say I didn't give them the pips!!

Mine love carrots, its the only treat Edith will eat straight away. Anything else and she parades around snuffling and grunting and generally getting very excited, 'showing' anyone who will look, but not actually eating it. Carrots however are a totally different matter!

They also love apple. I think its the whole sweet and crunchy thing that gets them going :)

I've found that to keep mess to a minimum with carrots, freeze them and give them frozen.  Worked a treat last night esp as George makes a real mess all over with carrot 'crumbs'.

Might be a nice cooling treat in summer too :-)
