Hi
I thought you could only have email with your own ISP (apart from hotmail/msn) which is why I don't change. Shows how much I know....
Sorry to have been no help whatsoever :) :)

Hi
I used to be with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange (they keep changing their name!) and they do have a rule that they de-activate your account if you do not sign in to it using THEIR dial up (or their broadband) at least once every 30 or 60 days-can't remember which now. You probably also will not be able to send e-mails using another smtp than their own, and can only use their smtp when connected to them.

If you just want to sign in to check your e-mails, you can quite easily install them as a second dial up account (and pay per minute when you are connected to them) and just connect to that instead of talk talk, that's no problem. You can have any number of dial up connections on your computer.

I was originally with onetel. However, talktalk telpehoned me and gave me a very good offer. I stipulated that I didn't want to lose my onetel address and I have not had any problems with it. It is somewhere in your Outlook and you can alter you isp ther. Don't know too much about it though. Bit of a computer virgin really.

that good I prefer computer virgin to numpty!  One tel IS talk talk. I will have to sit down when I have time and see if this can be worked out. as I dont realy want to change my address. thanks all

I know onetel is now talktalk but they still would have given me a new address. When I was having problems using Microsoft outlook to send my mail I telephoned them and they talked me through changing my setting in Outlook and that meant using my onetel address as the 'isp'???? Don't fully understand it, but it worked.

I do know that it is in Tools, Options, E-mail accounts, but that is about as far as I can go!!

I was with ukonline.co.uk for 6 years with a dial up account and 4 e-mail addresses. I used to connect via btinternet broadband and access my ukonline email adresses via webmail for years, until ukonline switched them off.
I had to pay £15 for each email address i wanted to keep. It ended up cheaper than switching to ukonline online broadband.
Did wanadoo do the same thing?
