I've just seen an advert on the net for a young bitch (11 month old) from a toy breed that is becoming more popular - priced at only £3900.00!!!! I could buy around 6 Miniature Schnauzers for that and still have change left over. The most expensive dog I have seen before today was advertised at £2000.00 - and I thought that was a silly price!
The poor bitch is advertised as being due in season soon, and ready to be bred from. The advert states she must go to a good home - somehow I don't think if anyone is willing to pay this price they will be vetted by the present owner. The advertisers name and address is shown on the advert - I hope the Inland Revenue spot it and send her a tax bill.
Even if I could afford it, I don't think I would ever spend that much for a dog.

At that age the most you coudl expect for one of my breed woudl be £300, but usually nothing other than a donation to rescue.
For that money I could buy 6 well bred pups.

I must admit that our pup was twice the price we had expected to pay :( and was bought from a KC breeder who had 1 pup left. All other KC breeders ( all 3 of them )advertised had already sold theirs !
All the ads we had seen for lower prices were scams. I phoned many that had same names, pics, email addresses, prices etc just different contact locations......and all wanted the money sent first!!!
The ads with ludicrous prices of 2k and 3k we didn't even bother with.

Is it a Chihuahua? The breed has really been ruined recently, very sad to see.
Yes it's a Chihuahua - I've just been looking again on the site and there are a couple of adverts (for different breeds) that are more expensive at £4000+
Its a crazy world - and the ones suffering are the poor dogs

And these people will still try & tell you that they don't make any money out of breeding, what CR*P!!

The most I've
personally known a dog changes owners for is £75,000 - and that was in the 1980s.

Ive just tracked down the same advert - ridiculous! OMG I'm in total shock! I can't believe she actually admitted she bought her for £2400 (which I find hard to believe anyway) so is making an extra £1500 in selling her dog and justifies this by stating money will be made back from the puppies! I also thought breeders could not register litters from a bitch that young. I'm not a breeder so maybe I'm wrong about that but I'm certain no dog at 11 months should ever be bred from. She is certainly not promoting responsible dog ownership. Oh and thats another thing she kept saying the dog could be 'bread' from, what is she going to do make a sandwich with it? I know not everyone is a brilliant speller (me included) but anyone who does breed dogs knows it is spelt 'bred' not 'bread'. I would never buy from anyone who shows such little knowledge about responsible dog ownership or breeding, particularly at such a ridiculous price. Unfortunately not everyone is as clued up as champdoggers. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before she is readvertised, as there are other KC reg dogs on the site for a more realistic price and hopefully from responsible breeders.

the most expensive ad ive seen is for £2500, but good trialing collies can fetch £6000-£7000

No, please don't :-) If you want to know the name of the site, please PM the OP.
Thanks

Not even a good example either, by the look of the photo. Poor dog, hope she has more luck with the next home, but doesn't look hopeful.

It's amazing what people are charging these days for mixed breeds too.

You can say that again, up to £1,500.00 for a PoodlexLab!
so how much do you reckon I can get for a rare "3 legged Gordon Setter"
LOL

LOLLOLOLOLOL...i'll give you my £4000 for the gordon .. as long as you know ,he/she has a good home waiting .....and i can get some three legged pups from her/him....
Well, three legged puppies could be arranged (says she powering up the chain saw!!)
not funny for people with genuine 3 legged dogs!
I think Archiebongo HAS a 3 legged dog.
I do (look closely at my Avatar!!!) :)
