I'm new here but have been reading posts on here for a while now. My two dogs are older now one is 12 and the other 10. For all this time they have had dog food from the supermarket. Bakers to be exact, plus treats from the supermarket. They have always had tummy problems. Both of them were regularly sick or had runny bums. if I would give them a dog treat they would be ill the next day! I had no idea until I started reading on here that the things that are in these foods are rubbish!

They have both now been on James Wellbeloved for about a month now and there is a HUGE difference in them both. They have not been sick once or had runny bums either. Their coats are lovely and shiny and also one of them who is a bit overweight has started slimming down nicely. My dog Benny also had regular problems with his anal glands which had to be emptied a lot. He had had them emptied recently but had started scooting along the floor again but that has all stopped now! I also give them dog treats with natural ingredients. They love M&C Nutri Boosters for Senior Dogs and Healty Hounds Dog Bakery biscuits. I've also just bought some Knronch salmon Oil which I heard is supposed to be very good for dogs.

Quality dog foods and treats are worth every penny in my opinion and if you shop around on the internet there are loads of places that sell them at reasonable prices. I'll never go back to the rubbish I used to buy them. So thanks to all your posts on here my two boys are on a good healthy diet.

Hi,

I too used to feed my first dog on supermarket food and price was a big factor back then. She was a lurcher, and while she never had tummy upsets, and lived to a ripe old age (nearly 13) she did suffer quite badly in her last few years from arthritis. I have often wondered that if I had fed better quality food that she may not have had her pain. Since getting my new little lad and his having tummy trouble since his arrival with us, I decided he was to have better quality food. I have him on Naturediet with no probs and no blood in his poo anymore!. Will be doing lots of research when he needs weaning but looks like I will feed Naturediet half and half with Arden Grange, Autarky, JWB or Orijen. The choices...been reading posts like nobodies business to find what people recommend :)

He hasn't really been fed treats because of his tummy ( bummy? ) apart from whole carrots to gnaw but i'm going to look at the sea jerky type things.....

I feel like a kid in a sweet shop when I walk into a pet shop...ha ha ha
