bingo -get all the prizes donated -makes a fotune !
race night -either with video or wind up horses
childrens fashion shows
barn dances
fancy dress
spring fayre-xmas fayre
alot depends on how big the school is and whether its been tried before
oh music quiz--the men like that one !!! and if you tell people to bring a bottle seems to make them a bit keener
if I think any more I'll let you know
I did post this last night but ma larkin was about so if something similar pops up-sorry

My favorite:
Car Wash -- always guaranteed to make money and kids get to physically work out at the same time :D :D :D :D Everyone has fun. :)
And yes, as long as it isn't pouring down rain and freezing, it still works. Esp. right after nasty weather :) Cloudy and/or drizzle -- doesn't matter ;)

I'm not really involved with ours but hubs is a governor and this is what our school does:
End of term parties/discos cost £1 entrance and they get some sweets but can buy more, next one will be a Halloween, start about 6 -7 for infants and then 7.15/7.30 for Juniors (something like that). Then there'll be a christmas one and there's always a Valentine one.
Car Wash is popular just had one this weekend
Bingo and Millionaire nights
There is a 100 club so parents can buy a number and it costs them £12 a year and there are 2 or 3 draws a year with 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes of cash which probably adds up to £100 per draw (if the no drawn hasn't got an owner money can go back in pot - I think - well sounds good to me)
Christams and summer fayres are popular and to get goods for these they have 4 non uniform Fridays before the Fayre. Each week the kids have to bring in for example wk 1 bottles (can be alcoholic) wk 2 toiletries wk 3 old toys/books/videos wk 4 cakes and busicuits.
Also poular are the twice termly cake sales. Each year takes its turn in bringing in cakes to sell after school on a designated day and the money raised is for that year to spend on that year group
and our pta raise loads but we do have over 300 in the school (kids that is)
hop ethis helps
and good luck

hi,
bag packs at supermarkets, xmas coming, people can give half hour of there time or as long as they like,
at the pre-school that i am chairman of, we do a sponcered find, piece of card board with a list of items to find and stick on to the card, we normaly send it home with them in the holidays always had a good responce with this and the kids enjoy looking for the objects, £1.00 sale instead of jumble sale, it is always difficult to get help and volenteers with this you set up like a jumble sale you take the £1.00 on the door and they can have as much as they can carry, no bags and everyone pays, they can go back in as many times as they like but have to pay the £1.00, if you have some realy nice things you can man a table and have things at individual prices. regards tina

Thanks everyone :)
What an inventive lot we have :D
You have come up with some great ideas.
I have written them all down and will proudly present them at the next PTA :D
All my own idea of course ;) ;) :p :p
Thanks
Ali :D

Ali ..the one way to GUARANTEE 100% of kids raise money is a Civvies Day. Sophie and Conors last school held one towards the end of each term ..£1.00 per child and they can dress as they like. This only works though if the children normally wear school uniform :D

What about a silent auction, you need less stuff than a jumble sale, and everyone writes down on a sheet what they want to pay, it ends at a set time adn then you read out who has bid the most for each item!
We had these at my primary school, and they were great!

Promises Auction: like a free haircut from parent who is hairdresser, 4 hours babysitting, 3 hours gardening. Usually raises a lot. For something more ambitious how about exemption dog show.

Cant remember name...throwing balls at old crockery.
Sponsered dancing. The kids get sponsered so much per record for non stop dancing
Pretend fortune teller.
