Any ringcraft people on here who know the best place to purchase rubber matting for use at shows etc. not toooo heavy....

Hi jenny, poodle club of scotland has just discussed buying new mats and they are much lighter than the old fashioned ones but more bother to put down as they need a lot of duck tape, once they are down they are fine but it just takes a bit of practice laying them.  Much more people friendly for carrying to shows them and take up much less space for whoever is storing them.  If you want I can find out who they are getting them from?

I think our club managed to get some old travelator matting many years back, it's terrifically heavy but very hard wearing.

We will be using mats like Fiona described at our Toydog show for the first time in April.  I think it may depend on which breed you will have on them as larger / heavier dogs can ruch them up, even if taped down.

This is a problem at shows in venues with wooden floors.  I find even with my medium sized breeds the light mats move, and this restricts the dogs movement as they reduce their stride to compensate.

The big heavy black ribbed ones are by far the best for footing for the dogs.

It is certainly a deciding factor for me when decidding if to go to certain shows.

Hmm Spanish maybe to heavy for them then...Thats a shame, anything thats easier to transport and store would be a bonus......Anyone know of a good supplier for the standard ribbed heavier matting ?????

I found good prices for matting on ebay. have a search and if you can't find them I'll dig out their details for you. I think it was something like £37-40 for a 10m roll.
