so i am considering getting a dog in the summer after i've settled into the new place with my bf.

as i like to make myself suffer i've been scouting out dog rescues to see whats about and i fell in love with a frenchie cross that i saw. looks like frenchie X staffie but not sure, however as these are 2 breeds on my short list seemed perfect.

anyway, he appears to have been homed, and while i'm delighted for him and his new owners i'm feeling very disappointed :( was so hoping we could have him. though i feel guilty for being sad- he'll be happy which is the main thing.

ah well, far to perfect for me, guess it wasnt ment to be.

Aah Astarte, it's a shame when that happens but just be thankful the dog found a home and you will be able to give another a home.
I believe in fate. The dog living wth you obviously wasnt meant to be :-)   The next one will be though :-) :-) :-)

Well obviously they wont be as good as you :-)  but im sure they'll take perfectly good care of him and love him to bits.
One day when you've got the perfect dog you'll say im really glad that dog i looked at got rehomed to someone else or i wouldnt have this one!! Its hard now but you will feel better soon.x

Life sucks like that sometimes, but rest assured there will be another ideal dog - I've seen a fair few that would have been fantastic to take on, but couldn't have them, and I ended up taking on my dobergirl and my labracollie and am so glad I could.

Having said that, there's an absolutely stunning blue dobermann girl listed over on dogpages at the moment who would be so, so perfect - good with dogs, people, fun, she was taken back from one home because she chases sheep and cats.  Already owning two cat-haters means that'd be business as usual for me!  But I just can't have another dog, 4 really is my limit.  Which sucks.  But I know she'll make someone else very, very happy!

I can give you a good few words of advice.....if you are not ready to take the dog in the next few weeks, then DONT GO LOOKING!!!!!!! Its only going to upset you if you fall in love with one but arent yet in a position to take it. "whats about" will change a lot in a few weeks, so looking now wont be of much help. A dog you see this week could be rehomed next week.....save yourself the heartbreak and only go looking when you are ready :-D
