Have any of you that are doing your Dog Grooming qualifications bought dryers - if so what type?  They are so expensive I was amazed - tried using my own hair dryer on my dog and it took blooming ages!

It really depends what kind of dog you have what dryer you need.  A good all round dryer is the Tornado 93, as it is a dryer and a blaster, I use it for poodles and bernese mountain dogs (It costs just under £400).  If its really just a blaster you need you would be better buying that instead of the other one and there are also some breeds you would be very wary of using a blaster on so you would be better buying one without a blaster.  So it really does depend on the type of coat you are drying.  Once you get a proper dryer you will wonder how you ever managed without it.  Money well spent :)

We have Goldies and have recently bought a blaster for less than £200. Look on H.U.B. International, or they will be at Crufts, then you can talk to them. :-)

Money well spent........How I agree.  I have an Olympia Tornado.  It cost me over £80 and that was probably something like 35 yrs ago!!!.
It is used on a regular basis (two or 3 times a week).  It has never in all that time let me down (touch wood)!!!.  It has worked really hard on occasions as I have shown Poodles and Shih tzus (no longer do).  At the time £80 was a fortune (almost a weeks wages) but I have to say that it owes me nothing.  Hope when you do invest, that like me you get one that is as reliable.

At the moment I just intend to use it on my three cavaliers - but I am doing my city and guilds in dog grooming starting september so who knows later on I may use it for more - i did a two day grooming course a couple of weeks ago and this week tried using my own hair dryer to dry my dog - I did notice the difference which is why I thought I would treat myself!

Hi maxine, Im a dog groomer and it wiLL be 2 years this may since i started. I use a tornado blaster/dryer  from allbrooks which has been brilliant. I use it weekends for my own dogs too so theres not many days a year its not used. It was very expensive but worth the layout. If you are grooming professionally then you will need something that will last as going for something much cheaper may just turn out to be false economy.

Tornado 93  I  think my one must be about 5 -6 years old. Never had a bit of bother with it.

Rapid Cyclone. My breeder recommended this and its absolutely fantastic! Cut my drying time down and is so quiet and easy to use, good heat settings too. Polo likes it too, he hated the blaster, poor dog.. Very expensive but worth every penny! (Can you tell how much I love mine!!!!:) )

I have two standard poodles and use the challengeaire 2000K,two speed blaster. Its over six years old now and never missed a beat.

I have afghans, and my dogs breeder and I swear by the Simpsons supajet, I have one and she has two.

Can anyone tell me which type is best for Lhasa Apsos in full show coat ? I have been thinking of investing in a stand dryer but am confused by the different types ie; blaster or dryer or both ?? Would appreciate any suggestions.

i groom two full coated lhasas i bath and condition them well. i have a stand dryer in my shop i think is a visog it has a nossle on the end that moves with out moving the whole dryer brill for getting in diffucult bits like armpits and inside legs.
