so absolutely bouncing with excitment about crufts, anyone else?

i've never been to birmingham before, nor has my patient, indulgent and lovelty bf so we've no idea about anything... anyway, i;d like to take him out for a nice dinner to say thanks for taking me- does anyone have restraunt suggestions? a really good curry place would be perfect, but any other suggestions are also welcome (might go out twice)

if you like expensive al a carte then simpsons in edgebaston is gorgeous you will need to book though....failing that jump into a taxi and tell them to take you to the balti mile.....1 long road of indian restaurants...hope this helps
- By Astarte Date 27.02.08 20:18 UTC
how expensive are we talking?

balti mile sounds good... are there any in particular to try? i image with so much competition they've all gotta be pretty nice though.

I've been to 2 different Indian restuarants in Birmingham and they were both fabulous. Bet the taxi driver will know

The set dinner menu at Simpsons (with a number of choices per course) is £30 per head.  Yes, if you go a la carte you can bump the price up - especially on the wine side, but  you can make it a reasonably priced night out too.  Google Simpsons restaurant Birmingham and that will give you a link to their page so you can see if it is your sort of thing or not.

There is an all you can eat Thai buffet near the centre with an ice cream machine! Yes I am a big kid! Also Soho Tandoori (in Soho) do a buffet for about £8 which only has about 10 choices in total but is some of the best curry I have ever had. Not sure where you are staying but Solihull has some decent restuarants as well.

simpsons looks quite nice but not overly excited by the menu. have been having a wee internet shifty (i'm so bad, i;m ment to be writing an essay) and i found a french restraunt called Liaison- anyone tried it? menu looks very nice and quite reasonable

Well you will have a good time in Birmingham, its really great. Not only do you have Crufts, the shopping is fab. IF you want a good value place with good service you cant do better thatn Shimla Pinks .......
