as you may know i mated my bitch she seemed ok until three and a half weeks when she started losing discharged had her scanned at 5 weeks and 10 days before pups would have been due which is tomorrow All this time she was loosing discharge and watery blood as the scans showed no pups he said would be best to spay her as he was worried about pyometra So she was spayed monday but yesterday and today she,s done nothing but look for babies whimpering and crying and digging in the garden where she normally digs when she,s in later stages of pregnancy Is there anything i can do ? she,s well in herself eating ok and perky enough It,s just so sad to see her i know she,s asking me where are my babies

I would reduce her food slightly, increase the excercise for a while and take away any toys she has until she is back to normal. Treat it like a Phantom pregnancy :-)

Sorry that it ended up she had to be spayed.

thing is cant give her to much exercise yet as only spayed monday so still has stitches dont want to increase food as now she,s spayed she will pile on the weight if i dont watch her

Ah it is perhaps early days as didn't realise it was soon but short little walks often to change her routine won't harm her and it is a slight decrease in food intake as well so she won't pile on the pounds !

pain can cause digging as it does post whelping i would try painkillers

I agree and I would cut her food by about a third and see how she is after a week or so, as chances are after her being spayed the food will need about a 25% cut to stop her gaining weight, certainly have found that to be the case in everyone of my girls.

Also she is likely to drop all her coat in about 6 weeks or so, it is something people are often surprised at following spaying an adult bitch, it can be quite dramatic depending on breed..
