My girl had a singleton puppy and he is now 6 nearly 7 weeks old, a good weight, eating and drinking fine. She was a good mum, perhaps to good. She cleaned his rear end constantly and still will if she gets half a chance. The reason i am concerned is, he poo's whilst walking and sleeping. Its not runny or hard, just about right, but he doesn't seem to be able or want to push it out, it just sort of falls out or slips out when he's asleep. It doesn't bother him but he goes to his new home soon and its going to be hard to start house training. I mentioned it to the vet who thought once he got used to not having stimulation from his mum it will right it self.............what do you all think????
mmmmm not sure. my bitch stopped cleaning bottoms as soon as solid food started and they were more or less house trained when they left because of going into garden every 3 hours or so. they were definately clean at night by 7 weeks and never poo'd in their sleep! seems odd to me
I agree by 7 weeks mine were not doing anything in their sleep, they were clean. When they woke up though they all went more or less straight away but did have knowledge that they were going. mum certainly wasn't cleaning them.

Hi
I have never heard of this but there is no way I would be rehoming him until I knew he was 100% ok and able to poo "naturally". It does sound like a weekness in his muscles and I would want to make sure this was something to do with mum constantly cleaning him or some long term problem.
Hope you can get him sorted. I suppose stopping mum cleaning him would be the first port of call.
