So if I am about to make the mistake of my life, tell me now.
Seems a good buy,low tax,ins and good on fuel( I so badly need good on fuel, bye bye 4x4) but if the wheels fall off or it lets the rain in, I need to know.

The only thing is,its boring,it won't stop me buying it as I am being sensible and realistic, but im not in love and Im not being seduced by looks, which perhaps is a good thing,so does anyone have one,and suggestions to make it more, exciting? furry seat covers?
Ash

the new polo looks better than the D reg polo!!!!
BUT if you are like me, dont go for anything you are not happy with,. I did, and hate my car!!!!!
My expoerience means, if you dont like a car you test drive dont buy it!!!!!
if you have any doubts, the doubts will get bigger!!But I am a girl racer in a useless car and I listenened to salesman, not my own mind!!!

We have an L reg polo and my ex husband has a P reg polo and they are both fab we have never had a major problem with ours i used to have a golf and that was the same theres going to be an exception to the rule always but we really like the VW's..

Boohoo i feel old that we go for practicality now rather than fun factor :-( :-D

I did actually test drive it,and could find nothing wrong,it was all fine, and have to admit a lot smoother than my car.I just read my post and realised that,I dont have to buy furry seat covers,as two weeks in ,with the dogs leaping around in the back,i'll have them anyway.
Thanks for input,it does feel like the right decision, looking forward to saving money.

I had a polo prior to the Rav4 and although it was very boring...it was a great little car, very solid and safe and very well made!!

You can't go wrong with a german built car as my husband says! :-)

My Polo is 10 years old, and the last time I had MOT/service, the mechanic told me "this engine will last forever".  I admit that the first thing I did was completely remove the back seats, but then, I don't buy a car for passengers.  As I rarely have another person in the car with me (only the dogs), I did go for the reliability factor, as I don't fancy breaking down late at night and alone.  I did go for the 1600 though, as I do like to put my foot down.

I really miss my VW :-( It was the best car I ever had. Ok, not a Polo, but my next one will definately be another VW. Maybe boring, but very reliable, which is needed when you are travelling loads of miles to get to dog shows :-D

I'm trying to talk my neighbour out of keeping his VW Transporter. He only bought it last week, but I'm sure I need it more than him ;-) don't think it's working though :-) :-)

Oh Jean I heard it on the telly. It was a man told to give up drink, ciggies and women. He said to his doctor " will it make me live longer doctor"  Doctor said " probably not-  but it will certainly feel like it."
A useful joke for many occasions :-)

My next door neighbours, both have VW and love them. Lucy loads her spaniels in the crate on shoot days and drives them all over the shooting grounds. It's as good as any of the 4x4's and maybe even better! You want to see the state of it though and what an experience when you ride shotgun!

Hi Ash, have you considered a new Clio? I have one of the new ones and it's been great, I've had it nearly a year from new and it still feels like a brand new car to drive. Its very good on fuel, mines diesel so I get about 60mpg, in my opinion they are a bit prettier to look at than the Polo! They're quite a lot bigger than the old Clio's as well so doesn't feel like you are driving a small car. Mine is the 3 door but can still fit a Malamute on the back seat. I did have a Polo (it was on an 06 plate so I think the model before the current one) and it was nice, but I found it a bit slow (but it was only a small engine). Generally though I think VW's are good cars apart from my mum's car which had to go back as the sunroof leaked.

My ex was a VW salesman and had use of company cars. In his words "they are alright but you can buy alot better"
Think that sums it up for me, i'd look at alternatives.
Sorry if thats not what you want to hear, but better you think about it now than regret your decison when its too late :-)

My boyfriend hates his polo with a passion!  His only ever had trouble with it and hates the car. It over heats for no reason, buttons have broken (minor but annoying) breaks are not great (new car, 56 reg)

However I have a friend who loves his polo to bits! :)
