
My breed are born black looking like moles and gradually lighten, in fact the black on the feet takes longest to go.
At about the time they leave home they are just all fleecy and oatmeal in colour and the ears are likely to be pale.
Around three to four months the top coat starts to come through first noticed as a triangle on the top surface of the curled tail (so you notice it when they uncurl it when relaxed) and of course the tip is black. Then the harness mark (the 2 inch band of light coloured guard hair comes in over the shoulders and more black peppering appears on the back as the black tipped guard coat comes through.
the black muzzle should be that way all the way through, only fading a bit with advancing middle/old age.
Oh not my breed but young finnish Spitz pups that are a golden fiery red as adults are mousy brown as pups.
