Well my Anton surprisingly is a daddy today!

For those who don't know the saga the bitch was scanned 4 weeks ago and owners told that there was nothing there.  They were certain that there was and took her again 2 weeks ago to be told that there was 2 at the most.  I won't say how many have been born but come on SWD owners how many do you think she had in the end!!
- By pinkbrady [gb] Date 17.02.08 17:46 UTC
Congratulations! I'm not familiar with your breed but I'm going to guess at 7 pups.
- By Goldmali Date 17.02.08 18:07 UTC
LOL I will always remember my first litter where the vet who scanned said 2 or 3 pups and 10 were born!
- By cocopop [gb] Date 17.02.08 18:17 UTC
Not SWD owner, but I guess 9? :-D
- By Harley Date 17.02.08 18:20 UTC

Hi and Congratulations,
Scans what a laugh :-)
How mant times do they actually get it right????????????????

I no longer both - either they are pregnant and you'll find out how many in 9 weeks time, or you've missed and will have to wait six months.

I guess 5 :-)
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 17.02.08 19:13 UTC

- By briedog [gb] Date 17.02.08 21:07 UTC
is there a girl naturel  bob tail or not

what did she have colour wise
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 17.02.08 21:42 UTC
NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  !!

Just one white and black boy like great grandma Lydia who was born with a half tail.  Think one of the gold and white girls may be one vertebrae short of a full tail but nope all but one with almost full tails.  So no puppy for me, I want to cry!!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 17.02.08 21:45 UTC
Oh sorry colour wise.  White and black boy (natural short tail), Black and white boy, gold boy and two gold and white girls I think!

we still got to do our hunting for a male dog

Our close friend was told her SBT wasnt pregnant, or maybe had just one hiding behind her ribs.

5 weeks later and 6 healthy pups were born! So I already dont trust scans!
- By MADDOG [gb] Date 20.02.08 18:44 UTC
Well done Anton boy!  Well I think everyone knows my saga of a year ago (this month) so I won't prolong it, scanned at 6 weeks told she was constipated, gave birth 3 weeks later to 7 hefty pups.  The vet's only comment was, "didn't you notice".  Well durrr, she suffered from really bad phantoms & used to sell up like she was pregnant so no, i took the bloomin' vet's advice.

Don't trust scans , although I'll probably get one done again if it was Bri ;-)

I trust scans, not for numbers, just for confirmation of pregnancy as long as it's not done by my own vet!!!  He is useless, told me one of my girls wasn't pregnant, she had 7!!!  My vets trainee did the last scan and was spot on.

congratulations anton !!!
- By newf3 [gb] Date 20.02.08 19:53 UTC
happened to my breeder as well.
she was told the bitch was not pregant and then we got a phone call three weeks later to ask if we still wanted a pup as she had had 9 pups.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 21.02.08 09:00 UTC
My friends wasn't scanned by the vet but by a sheep scanning person which most of us recommend on here!
- By KazzF [in] Date 21.02.08 15:10 UTC
Just like to add that we don't trust x-rays either!  We had a bitch deliver 9 puppies normally, got her checked
by the vet and everything seemed OK and she settled with her babies.  However, 24 hours later she delivered one
dead puppy, so back to the vets, where they x-rayed to see if there were anymore and no, nothing seen on x-ray.
However, we were not happy with how she was and were still convinced she had more puppies.  She ended up having
a C-Section and lol and behold - 4 live puppies!!!!!!!!!!
We have also had scans, even sheep scanners that have not shown any puppies when there have been.  The problem
with our breed is that they can carry the pups high up under the ribs and they love to surprise us!

Yeah, I suppose in reality my breed is also quite deep chested so some could hide away!

Did they go to Wey Farm for scanning, D? Just curious as saw a couple of Spanish up there last time I was there.

Oh don't know as she's in Somerset, no my neck of the woods!  If they were gold (creamish colour) and a black one then it may have been them.
