Hi,
Hate to tell you but it's a myth that all dogs make great stud dogs.
Sorry :-(

14 months old that is very young to be used at stud, barely old enough to have had any health tests done(depending on the breed)the bitch you tried mating him too was it the one who has been scanned in October or is this another bitch ?

Of course she just might not be at her peak yet.

Agree that 14 months is extremely young to be used and probably also very immature.

Some bitches aren't ready until day 18 or later, I've had that myself.

In any event it's always far preferable to go out to stud, to be able to chose the very best there is.

I remember many years ago being told that bitches are always ready on day 13  Honest ;-) I don't think I've had a bitch yet that was ready on day 13 :-D One was ready on day 12 (ok, only a day out ;-)  ) but the others have all been later. Sounds to me like she just isn't ready, or he is still too immature.

Oh and some bitches are of course ready as early as day 3 or 6 and could be too late by day 13!

it is the same bitch but we took her to a stud dog because we thought he was to young then.on that occasion she did not tie and we didnt get any puppies this time we had a 10 min tie so keeping fingers crossed.this was also with another stud dog.
