Hi there,
I have a 9 year old entire male SBT. He is the most adorable dog and brilliant with our toddler. I got him when he was 6 and he was never really socialised before I got him. I am getting a new puppy in a couple of months and am a bit nervous of whether my dog will take to the puppy or not. Can I have some tips to make this as stress free for me, the dog and the puppy as possible?
Thanks :)

I would only consider a female if you already have a male.
How is he when he meets other dogs or puppies?

I agree, and would arrange to have him castrated as a male in rare cases can stay fertile for some months .after castration.

Yes you need to get a bitch puppy ! check with you local vets .Just ask them and they will help....
He is wary of large dogs as some stupid kid in the park last year had a pitbull/mastiff cross off the lead which got him by the neck and shook him. He is fine with anything smaller/similar size to him, but thanks for the advice. I was thinking it might be a bit much having 2 entire males together, but my partner is not keen at all about having him castrated. Might ask the vet, as he is being kept in at the moment, his muscle mass on entire left side of his face has collapsed and they are not sure why :(

Hi
Before getting my bitch pup I took my entire male to a few puppy training classes as a 'refresher' as to how puppies can boing around and generally behave. If you can find a good training group, they may be pleased to see you if you phone up and explain what you are after and your dog is suitable for them to do socialisation with an older dog.
thats a brilliant idea never thought of that
