ok, so so its that horrible time of year when everything turns red and tacky... yes, its valentines.
as i am spending my first valentines day in a LONG time as a coupled up person i am now free to rant without being chasitised and told "you just don;t like it cause your single!"
actually, no. i just don't like it.
reasons as follows:
1) its just so tacky! really it is! you know it!
2) it;s a capitalist cash in on peoples emotions
3) it makes many single people feel bloody miserable and causes more fights for couples than i believe anything else
4) it makes my work day horrible (busy busy with grumpy people phoning to complain about flowers being horrid etc)
5) why do you need a special day to be nice to the person you love? you should be nice all the time (failing that anniversaries- relationsships are hard work and getting through another year deserves being noted). my example, my boyfriend is missing the football, spending a fortune and will probably be bored senseless taking me to crufts- a tacky card will not say "i love you" any more sincerely than that.
so... i am opting to boycott valentines day and ask all you sensible champdoggers to join me. everyone have a wee rant with me and add your reasons for disliking this most tacky of hallmark holidays.
;)
