Has anyone ever used benching chains at shows. I've just been looking at some on a site and ordered some. Not sure they'll get used, i'm just interested in seeing how they work and if theyre any good.
Most people who show dogs at Championship shows have them. They are easy to use. You just thread them through the ring on the bench and clip the lead onto itself using the 'ring' on the chain. I like to actually see and feel the weight before buying, just to be sure that I've got one strong enough for my dogs ;-) That reminds me, I need a couple of new ones.......
Thanks Lindy, i've ordered the Heavy chain. Also, i'm thinking about a cage for the bench at Crufts, can i buy one there? Just need to make sure i buy the correct size. Thanks x
I use a medium chain for my BC, the heavy is very heavy. If you are thinking about a cage, don't forget if you get a metal one it is a long way to carry it from the carpark at Crufts if you haven't got a trolley. If you go for a lightweight fabric one you will need some means of fixing it to the bench as they tend to come off as the dog moves around in it.
I have a cage front and top that screws onto the bench, comes in a handy shoulder bag and is quite light to carry. Depending on the width of the bench I sometimes need to chain him too as he can get round the sides. The cage stops other dogs poking their heads into Alfs space and stops him leaning round to kiss the girls on the next bench ;)
