When my 4 year old cairn was a pup I took him to puppy classes. He passed his bronze good citizen award!! When puppy classes finished his next class was on a night that I couldn't attend and so I stopped going and apart from training at home he hasn't done any more. Is it possible to start training again and attend a training club? He is a little livewire and I'm sure he would love agility but its not something he has ever done, is he too old too start?

Any age is fine for any continuation of training or or new training. 4 is fine for starting agility, in fact the added maturity may well even be an advantage to you as a new handler.

Thank you. I will ring my local training club to see which days would be best suited to him. Would it be better to have some more basic training before we attempt agility or would we be able to begin that straight away?

Most agiity clubs have a waiting list so youy have time to brush up your obedience. Most clubs will also ask to meet your dog before you start and assess their level of behaviour, but really when dogs start they can be silly and get a little excited so clubs don't normally expect too much, and they settle down in time ( lol..I hope! lol! )  Anyway it is fun and he will really love it!
