my family put a deposit on a puppy for £250 why were we given our deposit back as she had been offered more money ? why can't we find a pet for this much again. I don't care about a pedigree. or a fancy long name. we just want a yorkie puppy to love and be part of our family. why is this so frustratingly difficult

Guest - there can be many reasons why you got your deposit back - the bitch may not have had enough puppies in the litter, she may have sadly lost all the litter, the mating may not have taken etc etc. If £250 was the full price you were going to pay then it is likely to be hard to find a puppy for this price. You are looking for something that you are not wanting to pay the going rate for.

You say you don't care about the pedigree etc - you should. This is one of the ways of ensuring you are getting a puppy from a reputable breeder who will breed a healthy puppy that should have years of life in him/her. Getting anything you can as long as it's within your price range is fraught with problems and moral issues. Puppy farmers churn puppies out from any bitch they can. They do not consider the suitability of the dog and bitch and often breed puppies with health and temperament problems that in the long run can mean you have to spend a lot more on sorting them out than if you had saved a bit longer and purchased a puppy for the right price with the right breeding.

Buying a puppy is not like buying a car. You do not go round the breeders saying so and so will give me one for XXXXX. If this is how you want to do it then it will be frustratingly difficult.

If £250 is all you can afford then you need to save for longer until you can afford the proper price for a quality puppy.

Sorry if this sounds negative, but buying a puppy is a serious business - if you want to do it right anyway.
