Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Schnauzer peeing problem!

Hi everyone!

I'm in a bit of a quandry.

About 18 months ago my now 5yr old Schnauzer bitch started having fits and she is now on meds which are pretty much controlling the epilepsy.  Ever increasingly she has started peeing in the house.  This is not because she is being ignored when asking to go out (although she can be a bit reluctant to go out).  Even after a good 1 1/2hr walk she may come in the house and squat down and pee in front of us! Most frustrating.  She can sometimes pee 3 or 4 times a day inside the house.  It is almost as if she is very quickly "caught short".

She is walked every morning & night without fail and we do let her out probably more than would be necessary as we try to stop her peeing indoors! Shge soes share the house with our 5yr old Giant and I dont want him getting any ideas!

I just wondered if anyone else had any ideas??

Thanks!!

Richard

Hi richardi,
is it anything to do with the medication? or is it a behaviour problem. Seems strange that she is let out lots and walks regularly and still wees inside.
Is she under any stress at the moment? Change of house etc?

Well I'm not sure - possibly the meds but hasnt really been going on that long to be honest.

Generally it is quite a frantic household with 2 dogs & 3 cats (1 a tiny kitten that we found abandoned).

She is also generally a nervous dog.

Thanks for the reply.
