BRS isn't due for approx 10 days.  A few years ago I started marking on front cover when I received it, latest ones are winter 2006 arrived 12 Feb 2007, spring 2007 arrived 24 May, summer 2007 arrived 11 August and autumn 2007 arrived 12 November, so hopefully the new one (winter 2007 should arrive around 12 Feb.) I did this so I could remember when they are due.

Help please?
I ordered the one with my pup (GSD) in when I sent change of owner form to KC in late Oct, he was born late July. Any idea if he would have been in the Autumn one or will it be the one out soon?
- By Henri3402 [gb] Date 03.02.08 14:44 UTC
Hello Tatty-ead, the Autumn 2007 BRS covers the period from July to Sept 07, so if you didn't send it to the KC till late October it should be in the next one.

could anyone tell me who you buy these brs plaese. :):(:):(
- By Baz Date 03.02.08 18:57 UTC
You buy them from the Kennel Club  ;-)

Might sound stupid here , but why do ppl buy these? I got one once when i registered my pup in my name and it made no sense to me at all, is it just a breeder thing. Sorry if i am offending here , i just did not get it .

Hi shusky1,
I have got them dating back to when my breed first came into the country, so my reason for collecting them is that I have my whole breed, history, hip scores, registrations etc now on disc.
They are also quite helpful for me as I do breed rescue and quite often I can trace back to where a particular dog may have come from......

HTH,
~Gabrielle~

Ahh, i can now see where that comes into effect with rescue.(can i ask do a lot of breeders take their dogs back? and why can the new owners not know where the dog has come from ?)And i can see the reasoning behind knowing hip scores and other health tests for breeders. It was just that i wondered why they have to be bought , i would have thought they should be free really .

I agree, some countries have all the info available on line on an ongoing basis.

Some breeders take their dogs back, but not all....... and I usually know when I pick a dog up and work out where it is from if it is likely to be taken back...

Breeders should take their breeding back or not breed (yes rarely a breeder may themselves be too ill etc).  It is part of my and many breeds codes of ethics that breeders are expected to take their breeding back or make provision at their own cost whenever possible.  To facilitate this every pup I have ever bred is ear tattooed.

Quite agree Barbara, breeders should take their breeding back........ but some of the breeders who don't in my breed, are not club members so the code of ethics doesn't apply to them (and they know it)...

I generally know who will take back and who won't...... As fast as some are in rescue, they are already breeding more puppies and selling them on free ads pages..... Sad, but it happens.......

Makes you sick doesn't it.  Wish they had to be responsible by law, though I must admit I think it far too easy for owners to divest themselves of their responsibilities too.  Maybe if the owner and breeder had to each pay half the kennelling costs :D
