When did she have her last litter?  At 7 with previous whelping problems risking her again seems unnecessary, as she should have produced something for the next generation with 3 litters already?

To be honest after having had two C sections she really ought not to be bred from again.  Her  uterus will have been weakened from the previous C sections, and having had two this points to some problem with natural whelping so really you ought not to breed from her again.

Could you live with yourself if something happened to her, like a ruptured uterus?

Why not have the Alizin injection or have her spayed now.

She had her last litter in 2004, my mentor adviced me tonight not to give her any injections. but to let her have the pup's. I am ringing my vet up tomorrow.

If she's going to be spayed anyway, might as well do it right away. Avoiding the injections is really only a point for a bitch that is to be bred from in future. The sire is too young to have had any health tests done which is another good reason to not have the pups.

After 2 c-sections she definitely should not be having more pups.  Sorry but I don't think much to your mentors advice!

I would be spaying her. That is what you can do to help her. 3 litters, 2 sections and 7 years old.   Read you own post that should tell you the answer.

Looking back on you history  You had a litter Mid Sept,  you also had a litter in May/june time surely from one of this litters you would have gotten something you wanted.

Even if this bitch was so precious to me for a line I would not risk it.  She has done her bit for you in my opinion.   I think a 4th litter and 3rd section at 7 years old isn't really the example set by an ethical breeder being honest. Sorry if it isn't what you want to hear.

There is nothing wrong with the 'morning after' injections.  They are a lot safe than they used to be so there is really no excuse to go ahead with this bitches pregnancy especially in light of the fact she's had so many Caesarians, to let her stay pregnant would be cruel.

Also 3 litters in 4 years means she either was bred from very young or had litters on successive seasons, she has been bred from enough.  You will be producing pups from an untested sire and passing on poor whelping traits to more pups.

I would give her the shot.  There is a lot of risk, in letting her continue with the pregnancy.  You have already had to have several c-sections, and have had other whelping problems.  I wouldnt risk the mom.

Hi thank you all for your very good advice iwill be having her spad as soon as the vet can do it so they will be no puppies.

ASo pleased that you are doing this.  Hope your mentor learns from your example, you are really doing good to do this to your girl!

I had two young, vaccinated bitches needing C-sections last year.  They have since been spayed.  I know it's only my opinion, but I just believe that we should be breeding self whelping bitches, and I was not prepared to carry on a line with whelping problems.  Both my girls are only young, and at 7 you would be wrong to risk her life IMO.  Glad you have made the right decision.
