Like the heading says , what would you like to own other than your own breed? Have two breeds here, huskies and a cav , but i do admire the danes or the mal's . One day when i am rich (i will win the lottery one day, lol) I think i will have to see if i can have one or the other.

I quite like Australian Shepherds but do still love Rough Collie's which is the breed that I was brought up with.

There are lots! I think Greyhounds though.
Hmmm if children were older then I would go for a rhodisian ridgeback or a dane or a bull terrier or a staffie or a weim. With the children being so young I wouldn't have the time to walk and train these breeds now. :-)

OOO
A Manchester Terrier, or... a Basenji, or... a Whippet, or... a Tibetan terrier, or... a Swedish Vallhund, or... oh dear! so many dogs, so little time :)
Ooooh i think too many to mention, as when i am rich when i win the lottery too. :) 17 million my ideal figure lol. I being a fan of bull breeds especially molosser type, id love a bulldog, i hope to own one in the future and thats without me winning the lottery. But as we are dreaming here i like Neo's and Cane Corsos too. The smaller types i like pugs. But i generally like any dog, if i was to go to rescue kennels it would be the temperament that would melt my heart, going for an old girl to spend the rest of her days in front of the fire taking leisurely walks and teaching the pups there place. I like sibes and mals to but i think they are too active for me.

Springer Spaniel for me

Irish Setter, wonderful. Also saw a gorgeous Field Spaniel at a show yesterday.
My 11 year old daughters list gets longer after each show we go to, Irish setter, pointer, newfoundland, german shepherd and now a Skye Terrier (saw that disney film at the weekend!). ;-)
I would love to get a large musterlander...........have been tempted many times but something always happened to stop me, maybe soon!!! Also id like an Australian shepherd or a flatcoat! My heart stays with my gundogs though!!!
sorry, i meant muNsterlander!!!!hahaha.

If I had other breeds than poodles, I like - Pharaoh hounds, Spanish Water Dogs, Bullmastiffs, Finnish Lapphunds, Canaan dogs and definitely Dobermanns. Oh, and Coton de Tulears. And Xoloitz... Mexican hairless. The list goes on! Ditto Dill.

Ive got a beardie and a pug and like everyone else its hard to narrow it down! when I got my pug she was second choice as I had tried for well over a year to get a miniature wirehaired dachshund (do they actually exist?!) absolutely impossible so if I could perform miracles thats what it would be! also weimeraners (sp?) are beautiful. otterhounds and bloodhounds always make my mouth water to look at but Im not sure if they would really be a practical pets unless of course I too won the lottery and had a few acres! will definitely go back to border collies and also would love a scrummy little border terrier that will probably be my next one.
emma
When i saw the heading i instantly thought "german shepherd", but as im sat here thinking about it the list goes on.....bedlington terrier....spanish water dog.....weimeraner....great dane.....standard poodle (to name just a few)

really nothing can beat the beardie but if I
had to choose other breeds it would be Aussie , ridgeback , coton de tulear.
R~
I have Australian Shepherds, but would love another long haired German Shepherd or an Alaskan Malamute.
~Gabrielle~

I have GSP's but if I had to choose another breed I have always admired the english setter, very regal looking, don't know how i would keep them clean though for showing, not where we walk the dogs, red sand, mud and water!!!!!!

I have goldies and would love a Bernese (which I intend on in the future at some point! :)) Also love the Newfies, Leonbergers, Estrellas, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, danes, pyrenean MD, tibetan mastiffs...hmm I could go on!

Most likely I'd stick with Aussies . Other than that I'd possibly go for a Toller or back to a BC, or consider an old style Rough Collie, old style Sheltie, and possibly a GSD. Oh what a shame my family won't have more than two dogs!
I would love to have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever or Large Munsterlander, but Tollers are definately my number one. I love the sound of the Stabyhoun but as far as I know, there aren't any in the UK.

I have a lovely Coton de Tulear but one dog isn't really enough is it?! Would love a Golden Retriever or a Leonberger. But there are so many breeds that I love it gets hard to choose!

We have a Japanese Chin at the moment she is 4 years old and her name is Peaches. We are both retired now so this year we are getting a new puppy. We had three breeds in mind, a Whippet, Italian Greyhound and a Mini Smooth Dachshund. When he was 12 one of our sons wanted a Whippet, she was a lovely girl we kept her long after he was married, she was with us for 16 years. I really want a smaller breed though so have decided on a Daxie, we are going to look at 5 week old pups next week. I am getting very excited already. If any of you have any tips about the breed I'm all ears. We did consider I.G. and have been searching the Internet for some info. not much to be found.

I have been in Flatcoats since 1981. At presant I have 3 + a Lab x Golden, and I have a 5 mth old working colcker she is wonderful I had always said one day I would have a W.C.Sp. I love the buzyness of them and she is such a bright button. Until I started my dog training classes a few years ago I said I would never have anything but a F/C, but now I have had so many dogs coming to training over the years, I can see that there are other wonderful breeds. Bit like Kennel blind. cept Breed blind! They are all special.

I have an Estrela Mountain Dog but ohhhh my list is enormous!
If I won the lottery I would have several giant breeds - probably a Newfie, a Pyrenean and a Bernese Mountain Dog. But I would need help to look after that lot!
I also love Malamutes and Huskies but just don't have the lifestyle to keep them. Same with Briards and Weimers. We did consider Otterhounds but I think I'd need an outdoor kennel because they have a, um, distinct odour ;-)
Back in the real world I would love to have a Samoyed or a Border Terrier. Now I just need to persuade my husband to agree :)

I have always had Labs but at some stage we want a Flattie and I have fallen hook line and sinker for the curly coated retriever. I nearly took one home with me at the LKA in Birmingham but the owner wouldn't let me :-( ;-)

I have BMD's and have had GSD's in the past, but if I had the time, space and energy to cope (not to mention the availability of land to run them on!!) I would love a couple of Malamutes, they would have to be my second choice. Such regal self contained looking dogs! Not suitable for my town environment though Ho Hum!!
Aileen
Ooooh my list could be endless. I have a boxer and am totally smitten but would love a wirehaired vizsla (yes, really love these), doberman, DDB or a great dane for the larger dogs. I'm not generally a smaller dog person but love border terriers, boston terriers and french bulldogs (I really wanted to pinch the last one I met LOL!)
I'm sure I could think of many many more though that would be totally impractical for my way of life.

Oooh, definitely Bernese Mountain Dog. If hubby had his way, we would have had one by now but we really dont have the space for the next year or so.

I have a Dobe (our third) but if I have another dog I would love to own an Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla. Didn't know much about the breed until a pup started at our ringcraft - she was gorgeous :-D Since joining this board a few years back I have also gone from not liking Border Collies at all to really admiring the breed...maybe one day I'll try one
An Antolian Karabash....... One Day I will have one, I will , I will I will!!!

Setters, any of the setters, and perhaps a Welsh springer.

Based on nothing other than appearance we'd love a Bernese Mountain Dog. More likely we would get an English Springer Spaniel, field type. We had one before and seriously considered another this time, before going back to a Lab. An assortment of strays wormed their way into my heart in record time, including one who was half Airedale and half Afghan, and I was getting ready to keep each and every one till their owners were found, so no telling what breed, or cross, we might really end up with.

Very difficult to choose, but, a finnish spitz, a Malmute, Norwegian Elkhound or to ring the changes a Leonberger or another Poole, perferably a standard. I think the theme is furry and not short haired :D

Again for me too many to mention but to narrow it down I would have:
1st Great Dane
2nd Westie
3rd Bull Terrier
4th - nearly forgot Greater Swiss Mountain Dog!!
I have BMD at mo, so would really need to move to a bigger house before getting my Dane!!
By newf3

I have 2 newfs ( number 3 on the way) but if i won the lottery (last weekend the winner got 18.9mil lucky sod!!!) i would also love a saint or a bernese, but him indoors like leonbergers and malamutes and so the list goes on and on and on.
By the way what does oh mean when talking about husbands/ boyfrinds etc?
By Polo
Date 28.01.08 15:58 UTC

Other Half, I think. :-)

I think the Irish Red-and-white Setters are gorgeous, and show cocker spaniels, and I'm sorely tempted by Lagottos. But if the next one isn't another dal OH has been promised a labrador!
By newf3
Date 28.01.08 16:10 UTC
doh!! there i go again being thick!!
just thought of another one i would like a great dane so i could call it BACON ( get it!!)
Oh im good today.

I prefer smaller dogs now easier to manage. I would go for a papillion, or, pomeranian (love them)( my friend has 22of them all in the house and shows them,) like the japanese chin as well.
First love is the westie so full of character.
I meant dobermann (rushing at work!)
There are some breeds on here that I've never heard of - off to investigate.
Add a bloodhound to the list but that is purely on looks and not practicality, along with mals.
By Rach85
Date 28.01.08 16:26 UTC

Mine would have to be without a doubt a Old English Mastiff or a Newfoundland (A Brown one) we would have one of each if we had a big enough house!! :) :)

Date 28.01.08 16:49 UTC
Oh definatley more little Aussies.........but I would, if I could go for GSDs too. Another vote for a Leonburger, that is after only meeting one once!
Karen ;-)
oh i would love
Afghan Hound
Black Russian Terrier
Bernese Mountain Dog
Akita
Chinese Crested Powderpuff
Lowchen
my list could go on and on but i can honestly say Tibetan Terriers are my number 1 :-)
Really anything short haired, chunky and large! lol
I have a cav and absolutely adore him. But if I didn't have him, I like Wheaten terriers, Australian Terriers, Poodles and Australian Cattle Dogs
