I have been reading this post with great interest as currently I muzzle my 4 year old BC when he is off lead in busy areas.  He was attacked when he was about 14 months old whilst he was on the lead and unfortunately he then found it very hard to cope with any dog in his vicinity.

It has been a hard slog but with the help of agility we have come very far and last week he started training in group classes again off the lead.  What he still cannot cope with is the out of control bouncy dog in his face and he will tell the dogs off - he has never drawn blood or even come close.  This did make me very nervous every time we saw a dog coming and I just couldnt see how putting him on the lead everytime was going to help his recovery hence the muzzle.  It allows me to fully relax and allows him to make contact with other dogs - we have not had a dog fight now in well over a year.

I am hoping that by the end of the year I will have gained confidence in his behaviour that he will never have to wear it again.  I am of the opinion that surely those of us who are taking action should be commended.  The dog he was attacked by attacked him again about 18 months ago and still the owner just says it is a collie being a collie refuses to do nothing about the dog.

Since we're sadly no longer in need of the Trixie muzzle loop, which arrived yesterday the day after our beloved Luke made his final journey..:-( If anyone is interested in it please pm me and I'll be happy to send it to you free of charge.
