Hi Nicky,
It sounds like a great place. It's a shame you're so far away or I'd be booking Laura in!:D
Laura's upstairs singing "Who let the dogs out?" in the most off-key voice you could imagine! She wants to be in Pop Idol...sorry, she is going to win Pop Idol. I can tell her she's too young, but I can't bring myself to tell her she can't sing a note!:(

Thanks for the info, Nicky. I have already made it clear to Social Services that I'm aiming for that with her. I know I'm going to have a fight when we come to it, even though they've had to buck their ideas up around here over the last few years with all the national press they've had!

CarolST,
I am an occasional only visitor here.
I was brought up with Whippets and owned my own age around 10, I was encouraged to be responsible for all his needs, including training, which I enjoyed.
In the late sixties I got my first GSD bitch, I went to traing classes as she was different to my Whipet, the guy was a PD handler and those of us who showed an interest he tought tracking, agility etc.
In about 1981 to 3 I started my own training courses which expanded into one to one for difficult dogs and advanced for anyone who wanted it.
I still run courses but I take dogs from 8 months onwards and train straight through to what at one time would have been called advanced.
I also run a short course for dogs which do not need any degree of training, low rank low drive dogs. I have been running training courses as a buisness for about 22years.
I BELONG TO NO ORGANISATIONS!
My current dog is a Boxer x possibly some kind of Bull breed.

Hi Im Mick.(43 next week)
Not many men on here. Im from Dunoon/Argyll/Scotland I have one ISBT, and another pup the same breed booked for next week. I live with my partner Helen (38 in december), two children(15 & 19 one of each), two rats, two cats, hence the need for another dog. Im into bull terriers of any variety.
I play guitar badly, ride fast motorbikes very well. Driving bans up next week. I enjoy hill walking, boats, classic cars, Ive just rebuilt my 1971 Rover P6 V8. Im self employed (mostly market trading).
Cant think of anything else at the moment.
Cheers Mick.

Me, I just dye it and claim I can't remember my natural colour as i haven't seen it for so long!! :D
- By Kash [gb] Date 27.09.02 19:48 UTC
Julie honestly I'd say she's blonde- if you look at her wedding photos on the cleo and solo msn group- she's blonde:)

The trouble is Kash is that all the people that dye there hair auburn, everyone thinks it is natural, but mine is natural auburn and it goes lighter in the summer, blonder and darker in the winter, so i dont need to dye mine the weather does it for me :D thankyou for the inbox angel very cute :-)

Hi, I'm Gwen, 46, short, plump, dyed blonde fair, and usually too much make up! (Makes me feel better, lesat looks like I made the effort:)) I live alone (person wise) but with a full house, consisting of 9 American Cockers, of various colours, 2 pugs and, at the moment 6 pug pups. In charge of the household is Leo, an Exotic Blue cat. Junior, my buff "Yankee" male, is the perfect pet, and fulfills his function wonderfully - certainly not a show dog (too long & low) not a stud dog (dosn't do sex at all, thank goodness) he is 4 years old and the light of my life. He was an only pup, raised by a group consisting of Mum, Aunty and Grandma, and resulting is supremely spoilt and loves it:)). Puglet is my 16 month old "reject" pug, hand reared by me (with the assistance of Sunny, an american cocker). She too is small and fat:), she is also just adorable. Theoretically, the rest are show/stud/broods, in fact they are pets too, but would take too long to introduce them all to you.

I live between Newcastle & Sunderland, have a business which luckily takes very little time to run, so can give 24 hours per day to the dogs. Got into dog showing quite accidentally, I split up with my ex about 8 or 9 years ago, we used to show horses (Show & Working Hunters). When I left he kept the horses, and I took the 2 American Cockers! I was very bored, completely at a loose end, more so because it was Horse of the Year show time, and my innner clock felt it should be rushing around organising for the high point of our year. My friend Mike, who was well known on the dog show scene, suggested I should go with him to a few dog shows to relieve the boredom. Went to Gundogs of Scotland and enjoyed it, went to LKA and spent a fortune of grooming equipment etc, went to the Spaniel Winter National just outside of New York and bought a gorgeous puppy bitch! It just took off from there. Summer that year (95) visited a friend in Nottingham who was poorly, and to look at his litter (12 weeks old). Mike took one look at the dog pup and dragged me outside to make sure I had my cheque book with me! Talked friend into selling pup to us (he had been destined as a pet for someone near London) he was the most adorable bundle of Black & White fluff, with the longest floppiest ears you ever saw. We christened him Dexter. He was just 6 months at his first show (LKA) and took BPIB. He has to be the most amazing first show dog anyone ever had, as he won pup of the year 96, RBIS cruft 97, and finished 97 as Top Dog all Breeds. Talk about a baptisim of fire! Only ever beaten twice, both into 2nd place and took RCC both times. He now lives with me in happy retirement. Forgot to say, Mike does all the handling for our partnership - my ringcraft skills are still very rudimentary:).

Spent most of the last 2 years making things to sell in aid of our DNA research fund - ours is one of those breeds people talk a lot but do little unless forced into it, seemed easier to do it myself! By the end of last year I never wanted to see another bead or feather again (dozens of dream catchers made & sold) Also made upwards of 500 snoods, painted little yankees on dozens of candle holders and champagne flutes, had cushion covers and lampshades hung all over th house with the fabric paint drying! Happily, it looks like KC funding is about to be OKd, so the "sweat shop" is now closed:). Newest project is the Pugs, they are entrancing, and the perfect breed to go with the Americans, needing so little coat care. Oldest pups are 14 weeks now, and went training for the first time this week, weeks of puppy training strethcing before me as they are 14, 13 & 11 weeks respectively!
Gwen

Hi Gwen

Very interesting reading your biography, you and Mike have certainly found a good partnership. Hopefully I will get to meet you sometime next year all being well :)

Excellent thread this Melody ......

Well my details - my name is Derryn De Carteret and I'm 34 and live on the wonderful Island of Guernsey, which is part of the Channel Islands, with my partner Pat and our three Cocker Spaniels - Sebastian (5), Bart (3) and Douglas (nearly 1) plus our two moggies Willow and Belle. I have recently moved jobs and now work for a Fund Management Company.

I started showing about six years ago and have really been bitten by the Show Bug and so decided to buy my first pup from a Top UK Kennel which is my baby Douglas. He has already as some of you will already know made my dreams come true by winning Best Puppy in Show and qualifying for Crufts :D :D

Hi all,
I'm Liz, I am 5'7", with 'strawberry blond' hair which I help to become sunkissed!
I live near Bicester, Oxfordshire. I am single but share my house with my ex-boyfriend, which works out really well, except when my last boyfriend was living here as well- tooooo weird!

I live with Alfie, the Whippet, and the most perfect dog in the world! Also Nellie, rescued Lurcher, Dolly and Norman, Italian Greyhounds, and their daughter Alice.
Then there are the cats- 3 Birmans, a British Silver Tabby, and 2 rescued mogs who stayed after fostering them for the Cats protection league. My family think I'm mad to have so many animals, but I always blame my parents, as I was never allowed a dog or cat as a child!

I work for Arden Grange petfoods as an area manager, a brilliant job which includes my favourite hobbies- dogs and dog shows! I visit pet shops, breeders (love playing with puppies!), kennels and trainers, and work at the champ shows local to me.

I used to live in Bicester abour eight years ago ago - up near a pub called the Shakespear. Brings back memories of clubbing in Oxford on a Thursday night (ladies night!) and walkiing my dogs along the canal at Wolvercote :)

I've been married to Fred for almost 28 years - ours was a holiday romance which our families thought wouldn't last !! We weren't able to have children so our dogs have been especially important to us over the years.
I work full time but Fred is now retired. We have two dogs at the moment, Teejay (6) and Buddy (1) and we live in Flintshire, North Wales. I'd like to say that we go deep sea diving, surfing, bungee jumping and mountaineering but in reality we walk the dogs and watch a lot of TV !! :D

Lara,
lucky you to escape sunny Bicester! Still nothing to do, no cinema, but lots of chippies!
Are you old enough (like me) to remember Boodles in Oxford?
Liz
- By Lara Date 02.10.02 16:44 UTC
Boodles? - no never went there. Used to go to G's in Bicester itself sometimes though - can't imagine that's still there!!
I used to like it there :) Some good horse rides!

Hi I'm Jan. I am 44, another spinster of this parish.I also live in Bicester in the next close to Liz. I am owned by Shera a greyhound, Merlin a lurcher, Rory and Indy the whippets and George, Teddy Edward, Robbie, Mole and Hatty my IGs. I am Ex Military Police and currently work with offenders from the prisons and courts fitting the electronic tags and doing the follow up visits. No two days are the same and there is never a dull moment.
I started out in dogs with racing greyhounds, rescued my first lurcher and whippet. Love to go to the Lurcher and country shows which I dont have so much time to do since I took up showing. Love to judge lurchers in fact judged them at Blake Hall in Essex yesterday.
Only one in my family who is animal orientated having had horses up until about 10 years ago. They also think I have lost the plot!!!!!!
