I hope some of you on the forum have, or have had one of these mattresses as you really do shoot from the hip. We are on the brink of buying a Tempur mattress and almost paid for one this afternoon. It would be £1875.00 retail, but the shop will knock off 10%. Also my OH is disabled, so he will not have to pay the VAT which will take it down considerably more. The pillows are £100 each and they will be priced the same. So for the Luxury, continental size mattress and 2 Luxury traditional pillows, it will come to £1420.00. This is a lot of money to spend I'm sure you'll agree and if it is not as good as the salesman says it is, we'll be gutted.We would hate to make such a huge mistake. Any opinions on benifits and failings please lads and lasses, we need your help?

I do think that you can get good quality memorey foam mattresses for alot cheaper than the Tempur matresses that do excatly the same thing :-) Interesting comment from Wintamagaik ;-)

I have tried the pillows and cant get on at all and I did persist!
We bought a feather/down topper after experiencing one at an Airport hotel.
It is the best thing ever, we still have the firmness of the mattress underneath what my daughter says, is like sleeping on a cloud. :-)
I have never fsancied the tempur matress as I do wriggle a lot and feel it would not be suited to that.

I have to say i got the matress and pillows. Following a head injury i suffer with chronic headaches like migraines since having the pilow my head has been sp much better

Cheaper then popping pills all the time and i feel so much better since having the matress and pillow

I'm less sure now, tut! I have been surfing the web to see what else is out there. I am concerned about the "dip in the middle" and the "lasted 2 years" comments. Also OH found it difficult to get out of the mattress when he tried it in the shop. It ate him up! The problem is, that you really have to try it for a while before you can be sure if you like it and I don't really want the 60 day trial as you still end up paying out something even if you return it. Plus Tempur can't do the price we can get it at in Derby, who by the way, don't do the trial. We really need something though as OH is an MS sufferer and can thrash around during the night due to nerve damage, which drives me mad. He struggles to get off to sleep and is always complaining, poor love. But I have to get up for work, so It'll be a new mattress, or single beds, which means no cuddles :(

I got memory foam pillows from Poundstretcher (Instore) for £15 each, they are now doing 2 for £25, just like normal pillows and are very good, I have neck and arm problems I have also been looking at memory foam mattresses its amazing the difference in prices from £199 upwards, very, very, confusing and lets face it you really cant believe salesmen as they are after the sale as they will probably get commission.

I had one told me the tempur mattresses were crap !!! and not worth the money.  This was in "Dreams" its just opened here a few weeks ago and I was in browsing.

Poloaussie - where did you get your topper from?  I have now had three different ones and they are great for a couple of weeks and then they go flat and are not so good.  I am fluffing it up every day - which apparently you are not supposed to have to do.  Admittedly, my first one was cheap - just to try but the others have been quite expensive.

Hiya,  My mum looked into the memory foam matresses as she sufferd from chronic back problems. they are very expensive and she had heard mixed views on them. She bought a memory foam pillow (not as expensive as £100 though) and found that made a huge difference to how she slept. Not sure how or why but it might be worth doing that first rather than pay best part of a grand and a half to find out you cant get on with it. I think buying Tempur is just paying for the name. Looka around because i think there are some pillows and metresses on the market that offer the same thing at a cheaper price.

Mattress -man I found them on the internet, I have had it only about a month, so far so good........perhaps I should report again after a few more months!

Memory Foam for me -decided to get one a few months ago instead of a new bed ( which I'll get in the next six months anyhow) and its been fantastic, made tons of difference (but I am under twenty!). It was about £160 from a trusted manufacter.

i have one of those foam toppers that look like egg boxes, and its amazing they are really cheap and so comfortable, they kinda massage you whilst you sleep, but their firm enough to get up from. i have trouble getting up out of a bed but with that im ok.and there only about £30 for a king size, infact my mum and dad have just been and bought one after staying here and sleeping in my bed.and my dads disabled too

On tv advert it says you can try Tempur mattress for 6 months first.

about three years ago we stayed with a friend for a night (as we were moving house and our new place was miles away and we still had to pick up stuff from our old place) and the bed we were in had one of those memory foam mattress's and it was the best nights sleep ive ever had

yeah, my mum and dad have one of the same thingys but not the tempur brand...i don;t like it at all from the limited times i've been in it (i watch tv with my mum and the dogs on the rare mornings i stay at theres, tis tradition from when i was tiny :) ) anyway, yeah, you sink right in. my dad is disabled cause of a neck injury though and he loves it! sleeps way better he says. i guess you get used to the sinking in

If the OH thrashing around and interrupting your sleep is a concern have you considered air mattresses?  We have a queen size bed that has two air bladders and each can be inflated to a different firmness.  He likes his side much firmer than I like my side.

I keep interrupting my young lady when sleeping. I came to the conclusion it would be best if she slept on the sofa. :)
