My friend is currently undergoing tests for this on a lump she found on her neck :(, she's waiting on results of biopsy & CT scan, dr's are hopeful it can be treated...I know nothing other than whats on wikipedia about this type of cancer....can anyone help?  As nothing is confirmed yet I've all my fingers & toes crossed it's not the big C but would like to educate myself just in case. Can anyone help explain, in English not medical terms please?!

I dont know about lymphoma, but keep your hopes up that its something different.

I had a lump in my neck, and turned out (after all the testing for this that and the other) that it was Graves Disease, which is a thyroid problem.  A lot easier to deal with.

Hope your friend turns out ok.  Prayers!

Depends on what type.  One of my dads best friends had non-hodgkins lymphoma and survived many years after the original diagnosis.

There are so many things that it depends on that I don't think anyone could really state whether someones chances are good or bad until the real diagnosis is reached.  At least with this she'll find out fairly quickly.

there are several types of lymphom. each with a different prognosis and treatment. Until the test results are through you wont even know if it is lymphoma, let alone which type. I would advise against scaring yourself by swotting up, as you may not get relevant information. Wait for the results.

My brother had Grade 4 B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is in remission and doing well. He was 35 when he was diagnosed. I agree to wait and see what type before looking for info. The Lymphoma Assoc were a great help and will send out lots of information if you give them a ring.

Thanks for all your info, I really hope it's not too serious, guess we'll just have to wait for the results. Thanks again & keep your fingers crossed! After the rubbish 2006 & 2007 I had, I really would like 2008 to be a good year!

As others have said you need to wait to get a diagnosis but to help cheer you up a bit I know someone who had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma about 15 years ago and she is still going strong
