Does anyone have some really easy slow cookers meal? I have just taken mine out of the cupboard and as I don't really like cooking but love eating I am looking for something really simple. :)
Chilli is good in a slow cooker - it goes really thick and rich - but I don't have the recipe to hand (at work sshhh!)

I was thinking about this the other day. I am planning on buying a slow cooker and presume there are cook books out there with recipes specifically for slow cookers? Can anyone recommend one?
Most of the recipe books I have seen are all American which is great but some of the ingredients are unavailable here. The oxtail I have put in the slow cooker this morning for dinner smell absolutely wonderful yummy :)
Casseroles, stew and kind of "winter warmer" is tasty, good for you and easy. Never done it but apparently meat for a roast etc is lovely if slow cooked. Goes really tender and yummy.

Asda are selling the good housekeeping cook books for £3 each and have one called all in one pot that might be useful.

Raw chicken in dry hot cooker. Stuff it with 2 wax free lemons with skins, squeeze over some lemon juice,a lttle salt and pepper and add wedges around the bird too. You've guessed it. Lemon chicken!

I too am considering a slow cooker. From my research so far there appears to be at least a couple of sizes. The smaller one for 2 people and the larger ones (circa 4 litres) for families. I too was wondering about a cook book and a wee catalogue fell out of my daily newspaper today for Lakeland Plastics and they sell a cook book. Can't really recommend it as I haven't actually bought it yet but I will the next time I am in town.
When I was married to my first hubby we had a slow cooker (reasonably small as far as I can recall) and the only thing I made in was bread and butter pudding - which was delicious. But would want to get a bit more use out of one this time if I buy one.
There was an article in one of the Sunday papers last week and some of the slow cookers come with their own recipe book. There was also a family size slow cooker in Tesco for £20.

Ido allsorts in mine but beware of a full chicken it makes it that soft it all falls of the chicken, potato ash, curry, casseroles, spaghetti bolognese, I does say bown your meat first to seal it but I never have don and have had one since we got married 15 ears ago and it is brilliant with a family and you work full time. My family love a joint done in it as no matter how long you leave it in the meat is so soft thst it melts in your mouth.

Yep we use one too! If I'm really organised I throw a load of stuff in before work and leave it to do its thing!
Nothing beats the smell when you walk back in the door....!
Jack loves it too as there is always loads as OH bought a family-sized cooker for 2 of us!
I just use casserole packets such as the Colmans ones .
A work colleague said to stick a chicken in with a big glug of wine- then drink the rest of the bottle !!!
If you plan on putting whole chickens and joints in i would definately go for the biggest capacity you can get- i wish i had .
If you go to ....
www.allrecipes.com they have a slow cooker section....it is american but the recipes are great and they are all rated by people who tried the recipe. In the reviews it give tips on what people did to make them better.
