Isnt it exasperating? My bitch was the same but would eat natural yoghurt i then started mixing food with it until she was eating properly again......worth a try, good shes drinking though

Are you feeding her in her whelping box.  I don't understand old money do don't know if the temperature is an issue.  Do you know why she had a temperature, was it metritis or mastitis, both will make her feel very unwell.

today thankfully she has started to eat again pheww at least i can breath a little had her back at vets and she has normal temperature, so all is looking good..mnay thanks for your advice.yes i did try the yoghurt and she ate it.lol..fussy little minx.

it can also be that there mouths can get a little sore after whelping, from all the licking, alot of them eat alot of the afterbirth so wont need so much normal food from us!

Yes the urine from the pups when cleaning them can cause almost burn like ulcers on the Dams tongues so i highly recommend Probiotic Natural Organic Yogurt, it is a natural antibiotic as well as soothing for Tongues & Tums ( but never give Yogurt alongside Veterinary Prescription Antibioctics as they will contradict each other)

honey has anticeptic properties to, maybe a bit as a treat?

I was told the opposite! From doctors as well :-D

This seems to be a new thing. Even on human antibiotics they have on them now not to take with milk etc.  I noticed it on mine just last week.

I thought it was just one kind of antibiotic that was not to be taken with milk. I don't think it's all of them..?

Could well be but I have had 3 different types over the last I know 2 of the 3 had it written on the label. Don't ask me which ones as I don't have them now but it is the first time I have ever seen it.    I have no medical training so can't say for sure but was suprised when I saw it.

(infection in ear and parotid gland)

I think it's because the antibiotics will destroy the probiotic and 'good' bacteria of the yoghurt, so you don't take the yoghurt until after the course of ABs has been finished.

Well I get that bit :-D But I've still been told to start yoghurt/probiotics at the same time as antibiotics to give your body a good fighting chance to not get completely depleted of the good bacteria and to give it a head start at getting the bacteria levels re-balanced.

Funny I forgot I got antibotics for my bitch also last week and they gave me the K biotic or whatever it is called. :-)

I was told to give the K biotic ( a type of probiotic)  2 days after I started the antibiotics and to give them at seperate meals. Perhaps the medical society have woken up to the positive AND negative affects of Antibiotics.

I was ordered by my dentist last spring that I HAD to eat one live yoghurt a day while taking his antibiotics - I don't actually even like yoghurt much. :-(
