How many of this breed are naturally bobtailed in the UK?  Are there that many?  Just wondering???

I know why you're asking ;-)

Have to say, I went looking myself....anything I have found so far says 'customarily docked'.  Although nicknamed 'bobtails', I haven't seen any reference to natural bobtails occurring in the breed.

*edit* I stand corrected, seems bobtails can occur http://www.dog-pictures.co.uk/dog-pictures/old-english-sheepdog.shtml

He, he, I'm sorry but I just couldn't resist!!!  It does make me wonder sometimes why we even bother!

I knew that they existed but talking to breeders of the Old English in the past I didn't think that there were that many natural bobtails around.

are we thinking there could be a rise in the numbers of naturally bob-tailed OES....

of course it would make sense because all those wanting a short tailed oes would be seeking out lines carrying the bob tail gene......

mm.
