Certainly doesn't happen in my breed. The popularity of one sex over the other has varied over the years. Post war dogs were far more popular and no-one wanted bitches as they had seasons.
When I came into the breed 15 years ago, a breeders nightmare was a litter of dog pups as everyone was told that bitches make better companions.
In the last five years I have noticed that people are just as happy with either sex.
As for reproduction, puppy buyers are not encouraged to breed unless they are prepared to get deeply involved in the breed and do things properly. Most when they realise the costs and responsibilities prefer not to, even those already showing. Most pyuppy owners neuter both sexes in my own expereince, often far too young.
As for stud dogs, your are lucky even if your champion suits a bitch owner for breeding, and no one will get rich on the few opportunities a dog may have in my breed.
