ok, so essentially taking a week off of uni work to go to crufts, which since i'm in my last semester is a naughty thing to do. i feel guilty (not guilty enough not to go but hey). anyway, i've decided that if i get up to 8000 words of my dissertation finished before then i don't have to feel to guilty- do you lot think thats fair?

Yes if you do extra work above your normal level and feel you can cope with finishing the work off then go for it :)

I'm taking two days off uni and just plan to do the reading in advance, look over lecture notes, get my mate to give me feedback on any important information and I will be telling my tutors that I'm sorry I can't make lectures and tutorials but I have the chance to exihibit at the worlds greatest and biggest dog show! :D

I can't see the problem if you keep up with your work and don't let yourself fall beind! :D

But hey I've missed so many days of school every year for dogs shows though my school life! :D

good stuff, dont' feel as bad now. its 10, 000 words and i've got about 5000 done already. and i'm at the relatively easy bit now

Yeah just go for it!!  I finished mine last June (thank goodness!!) so know how you feel.  I am a bit of a 'putter-offer' though and work better under a bit of pressure.  If you have the bulk of it and the research done then you'll be fine!!
I'd much prefer to be at Crufts than doing a dissertation, but then I think most people would.  And remember it's good to have a break.  You might be more inspired when you get back :D

see this is what i'm thinking, i absconded to new york for a week last year, came back and got the best grades i'd ever gotten...heres hoping we'll have a repeat :D i am going to try and do as much of it an my other coursework as poss before crufts. i actually did nearly 200 words today  no idea how though!

If you work extra hours when you woudl normally be resting, then you will "earn" your days at crufts!

lol, resting? whats that? i've forgotten...dunno my uni seems super harsh for 4th years...my bf (also in 4th year) had 1 class last semester i had 3 and my dissertation to do, by the end of sem one i'd written 15, 000 words ish. plus i work about 25 hrs a week. was fit to drop. getting i'lls not helped either. so yes i think i deserve a break :D

what better way to take a break then going to Crufts.  I would do it, well not crufts cos that would be a really expensive vacation (air fair, passport, hotel, etc lol) but to go to a really big show here like maybe one day go to Show of Shows or maybe even Westminster in NYC.

I would do it, and with you planning ahead and getting some of your work done before hand, you wont be to strapped when you get back.

You only live once!!!

thanks :D even my super work orientated sis (was same degree as me, got a 1st ) who normally guilts me like mad for not working seems to think i should go. but then shes gone all funny and chilled since she got pregnant. i plan to have most of my 2nd draft of my dissertation done and at least 2 piece of coursework. gonna be a slog but it'll be worth it i think
