Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Poor Jack!
- By Dogz Date 03.01.08 16:14 UTC
My OH took him to the common for a walk this morning and he was charged and attacked by a blooming dog!
Jack has a poorly leg and Oh has a bitten thumb and a tetnus jab due tomorrow!
Why do people alllow their dogs of lead if they cant control them?
He (dog ) is 2 now and I just hope it doesn't affect his temprement as although he can be full on he is very friendly, he barks but loves to play.
He hjas been checked by vet and is on a course of ABs for deep weeping wound,he is a big baby though and it wasn't worth stressing him anymore.

I hope he gets better soon.

Why do people allow their dogs of lead if they cant control them?
This is what they are saying in my park about my dog.

We had an incident with my dog. A whippet was running full pelt darting into the area we were playing in and around our dogs and my hubby was throwing the ball for my dog. My dog is very very very fast. So My dog ran full speed for the ball the whippet ran full speed around and crossed her path, the two dogs collided head on. It was so fast I never even saw it happen cos I was concentrating on my other dog..I actually never even saw the whippet run up to us and around us . Next thing we hear is our dog is being accused of attacking the whippet.  To be honest a collision at that speed into my dog could do serious damage to such a delicate breed so I am worried but my dog certainly did not attack that dog.  My dog could crash into a rock and wouldn't notice so it is not good to mix a delicate breed with such a robust breed as mine.   I hope that wee dog is not too hurt or scared by the experience as well as hoping they do not cause trouble for our dogs.

No matter how careful we try to be things can go wrong. :(

I do hope Jack is not too traumatised by the experience and hope he recovers soon...poor lad. It's so awful when they are hurt. ...I think if you stay positive and relaxed it helps them to overcome these things.  Take care.

Thanks for comments, it was definatley a purposeful attack, as apparently the other dog has previous history....!!!
I still think dogs should not go off leead in public if the owners cant control them, We do let Jack off but know he is completley reliable whilst he knows we have a ball in our hand/pocket. :D
Jack is a lot better and has been back today with no obvious problems, other than a slight limp which hopefully will soon go.
He still needs a bit of time I suppose but needs to still go out, and seems happy enough to see other dogs.

Karen ;-)

it is annoying the amount of times it is a dog/owner with a known history of aggression.

At least Jack is doing well and hopefully his injury will recover quickly. Poor lad.

lol..mine are great too if I have the ball in my pocket! oh what they will do for a ball!

oh I just realised what  your name is..  so is he an Aussie?
- By Dogz Date 08.01.08 20:15 UTC
Yeah , but he's a little Aus, a terrier..............:D
Completely adorable, cant wait to have another.

Oh an Aussie terrier! Oh I don't see many around but they are so sweet! They have so much character! From the ones I've met it  takes a lot to undermine their confidence.  Heck but it makes me mad people not controlling their dogs in any circumstances especially when they are known to have aggression issues and especially around smaller breeds of dogs.

Awww Karen!
Soo sorry to hear this :( but heartened that it wasnt too serious injury wise.
(make sure you report it!!)

Gert big hugs for you, poor OH and the lad xx
