So whos back to dieting again?

At one point I had lost 3 stone but Ive slowly put some back on and now Ive only lost 1 1/2 stones. Im back in to it after the christmas blow out and on each Wednesday Im going to be writing in my sig how much Ive lost.

Who's with me?
- By copper_girl [gb] Date 04.01.08 12:59 UTC
I'll try.  I need to lose a stone.  I was always quite slim then I was ill and lost tons of weight, then when I put it back on I went way past what I always was.  I wouldn't say I was huge but none of my clothes fit :(.  More dog walking needed I guess.

I want to be 2 stone lighter than what I am now at xmas 2008. Its only 1/2 a pound a week so achievable!
- By Teri Date 04.01.08 13:24 UTC
Hi Tracey,

You can count me in to - but not for another week coz we still got waaaaay too many goodies around post festivities :D

I lost 1.5 stones during summer - the first stone just by cutting out constantly nibbling on biccies and chocs with every coffee ( I take too much of that too  ) and the further 7lbs on a personal mock-up gleaned from info of the Paul McKenna plan.  I want to lose a further stone and have now bought the Paul McKenna weight loss CDs etc as a friend lost over 4 stones last year on this regime and swears by it.

I'm trying to be determined - but never been strong on the old will power department hence the PMcK route as it does allow innate sugar lovers to enjoy their delights rather than a stricty no-go plan.

Good luck!  Teri
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 04.01.08 14:47 UTC
LOL Yeah im a sugar lover too!

I heard a personal trainer say take the 15 things that you need to change about your dieting lifestyle (i.e. drink 2 pints a day, eat 5 pieces of fruit, walk to work etc) and choose the easiest 3 and do them for 1 week, then choose 3 more for the week after and that way your slowly easing yourself in to a good routine!
- By Teri Date 04.01.08 14:56 UTC
Oh to have a personal trainer (even if only to slap my hand everytime it strays to the biscuit tin :D )

It sounds a great routine in theory but TBH I just KNOW I'd never keep it up  - takes that whole willpower thing so that's a non starter for me :P  However onwards and (hopefully) downwards ;)
- By Nikita [gb] Date 04.01.08 15:37 UTC
I've got the Paul McKenna stuff too, I do like it but it isn't for me - I simply can't enjoy the odd sugary treat, I have to have all or nothing.  Sugar is an addiction for me - like giving an alcoholic a pint.  I can't do one treat, one tiny bit of sugar sends me into a week or two (at least) of total sugar binge where I more or less eat nothing but sugary junk food.

I'm already started on my weight loss plan - I want to lose 36lb.  No more sugar in the house, I'm allowed sweetend tea but I will stop that in the next week or two as the sweetener also triggers cravings - but if I tried to stop sugar and sweetener both at once I know I wouldn't be able to fight the cravings, I get them far too strongly.

I find that once I'm past the first sugar-free week or so it gets a lot easier - I kind of sink into the healthy thing.  Overbinging at crimbo helped a lot, I'm a bit fed up of bad food :p I want to be slim by summer - I'm also fed up of every year thinking "I wish I could wear skimpy clothes cos I'm bleedin hot!!" :D :D

Fancy selling me your Paul McK stuff Nikita?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 04.01.08 16:16 UTC
That's me "I've got the Paul McKenna stuff too, I do like it but it isn't for me - I simply can't enjoy the odd sugary treat, I have to have all or nothing.  Sugar is an addiction for me - like giving an alcoholic a pint.  I can't do one treat, one tiny bit of sugar sends me into a week or two (at least) of total sugar binge where I more or less eat nothing but sugary junk food.£ but add carbohydrates and dairy puddings.

I am a binger, so I am best not having them at all, but I can't keep it up forever, and fall of the waggon.  If food wasn't needed at all, then I could do it.
- By Dogz Date 04.01.08 20:59 UTC
Do I know about sugar addiction.......and the feeling you can relate to alcholism with it too! I amm 100% on the same wave length here, I have spent more money on my teeth than you'd believe and have migraines to a horrible degree and yet sugar is is probably to blame............what do I do......binge too!

Karen

> but add carbohydrates and dairy puddings.

Oh absolutely.  Dairy puddings are a swine - low fat yoghurts may be exactly that, but they're crammed full of sugar.  Cakes get me a lot as well.

Still, I'm 6 days into no-sugar now and I feel fantastic - my mood is much, much more even which is by far the best thing.  And this morning - for the first time in I can't remember how long - I got up at 5.30, when I was supposed to, without changing my alarm, and I was actually awake!

Mind you, I've not run out of sweeteners for my tea yet
- By Brainless [gb] Date 04.01.08 16:12 UTC
Started new year, but really yesterday was my first really strict day.  I lost 5 1/2 stone in 2004, and by the end of 2007 had gained 6 :(  Had put on a stone by the end of they year after loosing the weight, it was jsut such a struggle to maintain.

EVen if I regain it can't be worse than not doing something abour it again, as it is starting to amek my feet hurt and inclined to only do the minimum hour a day walking with the girls.  It is becomigna chore ratehr than a pleasure.
- By ClaireyS Date 04.01.08 17:04 UTC
I lost 2 stone last year, and was feeling great, met my new man and put on half a stone (too much drinking and eating out  ) then I put on another half a stone over xmas (and ive still got the new man  )  My new clothes I bought last year still just about fit but I really need to lose the stone ive put on plus at least another half a stone.  I started dieting on the 2nd Jan, im following weightwatchers again and will be happy to put my weight loss in my signature each week :)
- By marie pritchard [in] Date 04.01.08 17:07 UTC
me too i need to lose 7stone, i lost 4 stone and put it all back on and more, ive been on tesco e diet for a few weeks now lost 10lbs so far but naughty me put on 2 over christmas!
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 04.01.08 20:33 UTC
Thats really good only putting 2 on over xmas! One xmas I think I put about 10 on! Normally its 7 easy! :D
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 04.01.08 20:50 UTC
I'm up for this.  Diet starts this weekend.  I used to be really skinny and in the last 5 years I've put on 5 stone!  It's weird, because I'm fairly tall people think I'm a lot thinner than I actually am and nobody believes me when I tell them that I'm 12 stone now!  I don't want to lose 5 stone, I'd be way to thin then but 2 stone would be nice!

I went really skinny when my house was broken into and Lana went missing, I lost 2 stone almost in as many weeks and since then that is when I've really put the weight on.  I would not want to go through that sort of thing again to lose that much weight so quickly!
- By ClaireyS Date 04.01.08 22:39 UTC
Ok, well my "weigh day" is going to be a wednesday so will put down my weight loss (if any) then :)
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 04.01.08 23:29 UTC
Mine too is a Wednesday!
- By abbymum [gb] Date 05.01.08 15:15 UTC
Are all of you going to be exercising aswell, if so can I join? I dont want to lose weight just need to tone up and find it helps if other people are doing it also. Finding out what works for other people might help and sharing recipes is going to help me with eating healthier.

- By ClaireyS Date 05.01.08 19:01 UTC
I will be exercising too just as soon as I get over this rotten cold/flu thing, ive no energy at the moment I had to keep stopping in the woods today with the dogs because my legs ached so much !!
- By Astarte Date 06.01.08 16:23 UTC
i'm very miffed. i've been diagnose with crohnes disease and so far no sign of the only symptom i'd find pleasent-weight loss! so i've changed my diet to try and feel better (living off cold meat, yoghurt and fruit pretty much). stomach had stopped churning, hurrah! figure if i'm good i should lose weight anyway, yay!
- By pinkbrady [gb] Date 08.01.08 20:41 UTC
Luckily those of us with dogs get more excercise than most with all the walking we do. I really want to start going swimming more but its having the time - think I'm going to have to make the time! I also have an ab frame and am trying to do sit ups every night as my stomach is my 'problem area' :(
- By pavlova [gb] Date 05.01.08 15:17 UTC
My weigh day is wednesday,I lost almost five and a half stone over the last eighteen months but since losing Inga on Christmas eve I,ve just gone totally out of control and I,m eating nothing but rubbish.
Anyway yesterday I got Ingas ashes back and gave myself a bit of a talking too Ive started food optomising again today (slimmiln world programme) I,ve decided I worked too hard losing the weight to just let it come back on again.
So roll on Wednesday and lets see how we all get on
Good luck everyone
Sharon:)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 05.01.08 17:46 UTC
Must admit it was loosing my two girls within 2 1/2 months of each other 2 years ago that really set the rot in to me regaining the weight.
- By aimibobs [gb] Date 06.01.08 16:37 UTC

Okay after the toffee that I.ve gorged today........I too need to lose 2-3stone and vow here and now to make a real effort, not sure how, but I will decide in the next day or two whether to declare my weight here and go from there..........

Karen:rolleyes:
- By Brainless [gb] Date 06.01.08 21:49 UTC
At lest Chinese is the least bad of the take aways with the vegetables and being mostly stir fried.  Avoid the curries and fried rive and it is something you can teat yourself to from time to time, something like chicken chop suey and rice.
- By craigles Date 07.01.08 07:24 UTC
Can I join too please!  I've got around 4 stone to lose! Did lose a fair bit before daughters wedding last July but all of it gone back on!  I'll weigh Wednesday as it's my birthday tomorrow!
- By MW184 [gb] Date 07.01.08 08:28 UTC
Oh dear - I'll join too - only need to lose about 7 stone - should be a piece of cake!!!!
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 07.01.08 09:03 UTC
Weigh day for a few of us this Wednesday - how do you think you've done? I think Ive done really well. Ive wrote down everything Ive eaten and Ive managed to keep away from the chocs in the cupboard! I think I may have lost 1-2 pound this week.
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 07.01.08 11:07 UTC
I weighed myself this morning and jumped off the scales rapidly, 19st 6lb :eek:OMG.  Hubby say if I get to 13st before we go away at the end of August he will buy me 7 new outfits.  Guess I must start walking the 6 dogs more.

Linda
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 07.01.08 11:12 UTC
I've been on Slimming World since August and have lost 2 stone. However, I was determined to come off the diet for Christmas. Wednesday (my weigh in day) I had put on 5 and a half pounds but wasn't surprised ( I love chocolate and have consumed 1 large box of Thorntons, 1 large box of Ferrero Rocher, don't particularly like them but who cares, and most of a large tin of Celebrationsplus others like Quality Street etc) I have had all the full roast dinners etc. Now back on to my diet this week, must lose some for Wednesday but even so I have only about a half stone to lose.
- By huskypup [us] Date 07.01.08 13:21 UTC
Hi my name is Wendy and I am a sugar addict.  There got it off my chest :)

Having eaten my body weight in Quality Street, mince pies and cakes over Christmas.  And let's not mention last years intake. Ok then let's : Cheap custard creams and Tesco's ginger nuts dipped in extra thick double cream, toffee (any) are just a few of my addictions from last year.  My excuse (as if I needed one) is that last year was a very stressful one, but this year will be better.  Clothes just about fit me still, but got to give it up now, so I will cut out all sugar that is not natural and eat fresh fruit, dried fruit, honey etc which are ok because they do not trigger a sugar binge in me, definately no refined sugar otherwise I just cannot stop it once I start.
- By MW184 [gb] Date 07.01.08 13:47 UTC
I'm only starting today but didnt weigh myself this morning - will weigh tomorrow morning and then report back regularly!!

Linda Morgan - how about we race as we are in the same weight bracket - and if we both manage we'll compare shopping notes...

- By Teri Date 07.01.08 13:49 UTC
I'm another Maxine that has to wait coz we still have some raspberry roulade   Now it could probably live in the freezer indefinetly but what's the chances of that :D :D :D

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow ;)
- By LJS Date 07.01.08 13:52 UTC
Yes there is a half eaten tiramasu in my fridge just waiting to be drooled over :D I am being good though and will feed it to the children :D
- By Teri Date 07.01.08 13:55 UTC
to the children    sacrilege     Think of their teeth, sugar levels, puppy fat, potential personal image problems in later life  - Lucy you owe it to them to eat that cake :D
- By LJS Date 07.01.08 13:57 UTC
Oh ok then you have persuaded me :D
- By Teri Date 07.01.08 13:58 UTC
That's my girl ;)  I'm just whittling down the roulade as I type so that it's all gone for my fresh start tomorrow - I'm practically a saint :D

Hi Pam, Lucy, Teri :)  (And Mad Melly, HuskyGal  Liv   etc etc  :)  )

I have been away so long I hardly recognise anyone!

I 'm still weight watching.  Have only put 1 stone of the 6 I lost and have kicked back in now.  Signed up for another walk this year so that will keep me on track.

Really good to see some old names still here

Great achievement Ali keeping that weight off.  I keep doing it but put it all back on and more :-(

it is blooming hard Pam :(  I didn't do a walk in  2007 coz of personal reasons and I think I just lost the motivation to keep going.  Lucky I only put 1 stone back on!

Had to sign up for another one otherwise think a bit more would ahve gone on!

getting up at the crack of dawn again to get a few miles in before I go to work,  so it should shift again!
