Topic Dog Boards / General / Should I do something about it?

A bit of a Rant and also not sure if I should do something about it as I do not really have all the facts.

On my daily walk through three fields I have been noticing a house that backs onto the the fields has several dogs in kennels, about 5 kennels, not sure how many dogs but at least 5.
I have heard the dogs whimpering loudly, this is a house that is very close to other houses, the back garden is small and the kennels seem to take up the whole space in the garden.
In the field I Walk in behind the house, there is a large amount of dog poo, looking as though the owner has just thrown it over his back fence, also a fellow dog walker has said that they believe the dogs are used for hunting of some sort as in the same field there is a large amount of animal bones, carcases dumped in hedges etc:
My friends dog who walks with us is for ever picking up the bones, one day I had to prise a, what I can only describe as a ferret carcase from my friends dogs jaws, and a bone that was as long as a adult human leg!
Now I have no proof that the dog poo has come from the house, or that the bones are from the same house, and I would have thought neighbours next to this house would have complained about the noise from the dogs in the kennels, so I am just not sure what to do

if its a footpath that they are chucking stuff on or near then i would tell the council, if its just a farmers field that you choose to use then its between them. i know of a few  people who throw their dog muck into a neighbouring field, dont understand it myself, if youre going to pick it up you may as well pop it in a bag!

It certainly doesn't seem right. Do you suspect the dogs are being mistreated or are being kept in inadequate living conditions? If so something definately needs to be done.

"and a bone that was as long as a adult human leg!"

Most likely a leg bone from a deer, if it is from a wild animal.

I think that unless you have evidence that whoever owns the dogs is disposing of poo in the field there's nothing you can do but avoid the area, if that's possible.  I've just about stopped going to my local common area because there is so much poo I spend the entire time looking at my feet while I walk!  It's bad enough when people do not pick up in the grassy fields on the common, but there is a small wooded area that I like to walk and no one ever picks up - even when their dog deposits a load right in the middle of a footpath.  Disgusts me.

you might not be able to do much about the dogs, but it sounds like a health hazard with the poo and the animal bones, so I would imagine that the environmental health department of your local council woudl be interested.
