Why don't you try posting on the Siberian Husky club website. You will get an awful lot of advice with regard to showing/breeding/working huskies. Another person to approach would be your new pups breeder. If the pups are from Champion lines, then surely they should know about shows etc :)

Hi Naomi
Are you hoping she'll go annoy them instead of us?

No Nicky,
But these posts may be of interest to some people on the site :)
Husky people on the board will give good impartial advice and don't tend to mince their words :)

Look in the dog papers - Dog World and Our Dogs. There is a champ show in December at the NEC - gundogs are on Friday, 13 December.

google.com

I think what Eoghania means is that if you go to Google.com and type in Siberian Husky UK , you will find a lot of the sites that will be of help

We are getting to the end of the show season now, so I would be inclined to go to the shows as a spectator. That would give you some idea as to what happens in a show without putting stress on your dogs. It would also give you an idea as to what the judges are looking for in your breed. You may even be able to chat to some of the exhibitors and learn from them, although it is best to do that after they have shown their dogs, and are more relaxed.
Shows are listed in the dog papers.
I would stongly advise you to go to ringcraft classes before going in the ring yourself. I would also suggest local exemption shows, they are great fun, cheap and more to the point good experience for you and your dog.

Ok at the risk of confusion with too many Sara/h's in one place :D :) :)
Hasn't anyone heard of this series before???? It started out with Computers______. It's pretty much every topic now written by rather well known individuals. The one for "Sex" was by Dr. Ruth Westheimer. Lots of good knowledge put into fun to read writing.. I'd give it to a teenager in a heartbeat. :)
They even have one for "Obedience Training____________" which has a lot of good advice :)
So on one hand, I'm tongue in cheek and a bit exasperated --- the other is offering a really good solution. Depending on my mood is the basis for whether or not I claim a specific rationale ;) :D :D :)

Hi Eog, yes I `ve got one myself. Computer one that is :) Very tongue in cheek & had me in stitches you did!! Good book tho.

They teach you how to handle your dog for the show ring.

As Dawn said ring craft will teach you and your dog what to do at a show.
Exemption shows are small fun shows with fun classes(prettiest bitch etc) as well as pedigree classes(sporting,non-sporting etc)
Open shows are larger again with breed classes and variety classes(any variety hound.AV puppy etc)
Champ shows are the largest with many thousands of dogs entered over several days.
Open and champ shows are not somewhere to turn up unprepared -the are lots of rules and certain proceedures(scuse spelling!!!) to abide by.Go and watch some shows first-go to ring craft and get you and your dog prepared-its great fun but no-one wants a novice turning up causing havoc because they haven't done their homework!!
I've had dogs all my life and have shown on and off,at varying levels for about 10 years and I'm still a novice but I hope that because I've done my homework and learnt what is required of me before I go ,I will not cause inconvenience or annoy anyone and so everyone can have a good day.

A lovely Open show in November is the Nordic show. It is at the sports Conexion,Ryton on dunsmore near coventry on 23rd Novemeber.
This is the one show where all the spitz breeds are shown together, as in Uk they are spread in the Working, Utility, Toy, Pastoral, and Hound Groups. In most other European countries they are in the same group.
