I think thats what I mean

As many of you know we have a Welsh Terrier ( 10 1/2 yrs now ) and were hopefully wanting to give a home to a rescue Wire Fox Terrier sometime next year. ( age and sex not important )
I have e-mailed the rehoming person for the WFT association a few days ago asking for information and told them a bit about us and how we live so that they had an idea of what we were like - don't know if this was the right way to do it or not!

One of the things that I was concerned , and a bit worried about is that we live in a flat. Does anyone know whether this will stop us being allowed to take on a rescue dog. We do have our own garden and take Rosie for walks and she is fine living here.

I suppose I was hoping that someone may have experience with this sort of area and could maybe give me some advice . The person hasn't replied yet so any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you , Kate

If you have your own garden then I really can't see why it being a Flat as opposed to a house would make a difference.  Especially as you successfully own a dog already.  I think breed rescues have the time and background on the dogs to take each case on it's own merits compared to large general rescues who tend to have some blanket criteria.

I would have thought e-mailing and giving them an idea about your lives is a good thing :-)
I don't think living in a flat will cause any problems especially as you have a garden.
Best of luck!  I hope it all works out for you.

Thank you both for your replies , they both made me feel better and more positive about it!

The person still hasn't replied to my email yet , which i know they are probably busy but has anyone been in this situation or know roughly how long it can take to here back form breed rescues. Would I be better off ringing them or would this look like I was pestering them , being too desperate etc?

Thanks , Kate

Breed rescues are run by volunteers so it could be that the person you have mailed is on holiday.  Most breed rescues either use commercial kennels, breeders that can kennel a dog or breed enthusiasts fostering dogs, or home direct from their original home, so no staff as such.

An email like you describe certainly would make me think positively of a prospective puppy buyer so imagine rescue would feel the same and take things from there to clarify any further relevant points with you.
