i got my first puppy about a month ago, 2 of them actualy a male (chance) and a female (roxie) but i have had a hard time with them catching a virus that killed my favorite one of the two (roxie) :( so since her death i want to make sure the remaining pup is well taken care of and healthy. i have been feeding him puppy chow but he doesnt seem to like it much and i have heard that it is not as healthy as some of the other brands. could someone reccomend a good healthy brand that he might like? he is a large breed (alaskan malamute/chow mix) i am also in the US so i would need american brands. i think the most popular brands here are: Bill Jack, eukanuba, hills science diet, Iams, Natures recipe, Nutro max, nutro natural choice, Pro Plan and Purina one. there are so many brands i have no idea what to choose. i have also heard about feeding them garlic ? and was wondering how it was prepared? do you just chop some up in their food or do you cook it first?

Hi Snowangel,
I was so sad to read of the death of one of your puppies, and do so hope that Chance stays well.
As you live in the States, may I suggest a malamute site there where you can get advice about the various foods available over there and other mal-related topics. http://www.wildpaw.com
Good luck with Chance

Hi out of the choices given I would probably try the Nutro for puppies myself, unless you cpome up with something more suitable on the suggested site. Some dogs do well on Eukanuba but it doesn't suit them all.

You're welcome :)
Saw you had already been on the site when I logged on this morning. Hope you had a warm welcome. I seldom post there, preferring to lurk around in the background, but when I have posted a query, have always found good advice and support!
