Does anyone have any information about exporting a puppy to Sweden ie; age they can travel , microchip or tattoo ? best airline ? etc. etc.
I have spent all afternoon making phone calls and everyone I have spoken to has given conflicting advice. If anyone has recently gone through the procedure I would be very grateful for any advice.

Here's a link to the Swedish ministry: http://www.sjv.se/home/amnesomraden/animalhealthwelfare/importexportofliveanimals/dogsandcats.4.7502f61001ea08a0c7fff126754.html
In the menu to the left you will find separate conditions for young puppies as the same rules will not apply -i.e. no need for rabies vacc etc if the pup is less than 12 weeks. Either microchip or tattoo is okay but microchips tend to be preferred. Best airline -depends a bit on location going from and to, and how the pup will travel. Some airlines will allow the pup to travel inside the cabin with the person when going TO Sweden -but beware each flight only allows one dog. Usually it's FinnAir. A lot has changed just recently though with routes etc.

Thanks , that link has been very helpful. It seems to be the case that it's best to use a company that specialize in transporting dogs abroad , rather than try to negotiate the minefield of rules and requirements alone. I had no idea it was all so expensive either! Still , if they want him enough they will be happy to pay his travel costs.

I agree, except where the owners have come to fetch the pup themselves I have arranged the two exports where pup had to fly through a import export quarantine kennels.

It actually works out hardly any more than trying to do it all yourself.

They have the advantage of knowing exactly where to take the pup fro shipment being familiar with the airports etc.

From a breeders point of view you don't have to deal with the new owner regarding these costs they can deal with each other direct and all you need to deal with is the pups sale and the additional costs of pet passport, tattoo and or chip and any vaccinations.

Yes , that's the other option , that the new owner could collect him. I am now waiting for a quote from the shipping co. and then I will put it to them (new owner) that they could do it that way instead. Thanks everyone!
