I have used both in the past and although I feed raw to my adults most of the time, if I had to choose one now I would always choose Purina. The dogs prefer it too.

I think Nutro is a much "purer" food for want of a better word. Pro Plan contains vague ingredients like "animal fat" and "digest", both listed
here (you need to scroll down a bit).
Mine are current on purina pro plan and love it. My eldest was a very fussy eater and wouldnt evern look at Nutro, but he loves the purina.

Our dog always seems to get bored of his food, he is on hills science plan natures best, he came to us on eukanuba but was always sick and his skin was so dry so we changed him over but i really want a food that he will enjoy. Our staffie came to us on iams and to this day she still gobbles down her food every dinnertime!
I don't want to feed raw (personal choice) so i am looking for another food (that would be available at a pet shopas most companies don't deliver out here)
My older boy was like this before I got my puppy and as he came on Purina, switched the older one to it. The eldest used to have quite dry skin and sometimes it was quite flaky. Since feeding purina, I have not had a problem with either of their skins. My youngest is changing coats at the moment and still no sign of any dryness in his coat.
To help my older boy not to get bored of his food, I give him something different with it. I usually buy big packs of lamb mince or shoulders of pork from Costco, mince it and then portion it off and feed this with liver thrown in occasionally.
On the rare occassion that he doesnt eat now, is normally due to him eating something yucky and having an upset tummy, but it is very rare.
Most vets will be able to order this in, (which sometimes works out cheaper than from the pet shop!!)
Personally I would recommend it , I've found it really good.

How about mixing a little chappie with the complete you have him on now?
I tried this on the recommendation of a friend (who also warned me about the fishy pong). They had a dog with dry flaky skin problem. It's a revelation, a very happy dog who doesn't get so bored with the complete, he does also have occasional chicken wings and 'our food' too.
Karen ;-)

I have tried both in the past, and personally I preferred the Nutro, but it depends what suits your dog. :)
