Drives me mad when out walking with my boys and a dog pops out from the bushes and has a go at mine  why dont people keep their dogs on a lead if they cant see whats coming round the corner??

I carry a spray bottle with vinegar in,just the type you can get fron the shop to water your plants.

Vinegar!!!!  My god what would happen if that got in a dogs eyes - wouldnt it sting and make him go mad??
I would have thought you would be putting yourself in a very vulnerable situation by spraying somebodys dog with vinegar....

Vinegar is acid and you should not spray it into anybody's eyes.  Couldn't you just carry a water pistol? If you sprayed either of my dogs with vinegar I would inform the RSPCA and have you prosecuted.  What a foolish thing to do.

Never spray acid at a dog! You could cause it terrible pain and get yourself attacked, either by the dog or the owner - which would be no more than you deserve. Water only in a spray.

those people who said its not fair to keep her on lead are idiots people shouldnt have their dogs off lead in a public place

near a road, plenty of public open spaces where dogs are allowed off lead, but actions like that persons will lead to our freedom for off lead exercise curtailed ever more.

It's a sad day when people have to carry pepper, vinegar sprays, sticks and who knows what else because they feel threatened by another dog.  :-(

Why is this happening?

Folk should be able to walk their dogs in peace and if everyone took responsibility for their own and had their dog under control, verbally or physically, there would be no need for this.

Maybe it is because the dogs don't socialise with each other enough, and the owners seem not to want to or feel able to either.

On the flip side just quickly refering to the Staff part of the conversation as I missed it!

Mitz is a submissive dog and she is a SBT, she has been attacked by a Cav King Charles! Although not causing any damage to her and when she is nipped at etc she never retaliates, just wanted to point out that Staffs are attacked too and dont retaliate in a typical way, this we need to remember as well!

Please continue with the original conversation...! :D :D
