i was looking on rescue dog sites when i came across a cross bulldog/rottweiller. really strange looking but attractive dog, was an all over brindle but the base colour was the tan of the rottie. sturdy composition, quite similar to the bullmastiff in shoulder, head and neck etc but without wrinkle and a longer muzzle, but with the springy looking back end of the rotty, looked a bit like tigger :D whats the strangest cross anyones seen?

A rottie and a toy breed or terrier, can't remember which coz it was in a mag I was looking at in the docs waiting room ages ago. Thankgoodness it was a rottie mum. The owners thought it funny, said the boy was a 'randy' thing, and she had laid down to let him.....

your joking, they just let them?? what is wrong with some people?

Hi
Don't know if I have done this right (1st time post!!) but I had to respond to this one.
The strangest cross I have seen was a bulldog cross dalmatian - just looked like a normal bulldog but with longer legs.  Oh, and spotty!!

A friend of ours knows someone with a Basset Hound cross Rottweiler - looks just like a Basset but with the head of a Rottweiler

see if i hadn't had a bullmastiff/french bulldog myself i would claim thats not possible. i assume the rottie was the dog? can't imaging a basset mounting a rottie...

Well a Dachshund managed to mate a rottie bitch. The resulting two pups one was rottie size but short legged like the dachs so sort of basset like.  the other had square Rottie proportions but was small taking it's size from the dachs.

Didn't Sam post about some idiot neighbours mating their Bulldog bitch to a Border Collie dog?

I remember as a child on the after the news program Nationwide about a Great Dane bitch who was taken for mating and wouldn't stand for the chosen male.  Two months later she produced one huge pup with short legs to their mini dachshund pet dog.

It looked like a fawn great Dane with basset legs.

I saw that exact cross on a rescue site last year and thought it must be photoshopped  He was the colour of a Rott with a perfect Rott head and the rest of him was Basset! We ended up adopting a Basset x JRT who has a Bassets body and tail,JRT legs and his head looks very Beagle

what about a german shephers cross with well i amnot sure what?? was fully german shepherd looking but with VERY short legs so that its belly hair was on the ground!! very weird too see but very cute.

Also pom cross springer..looked a bit like basil brush on speed again very cute but WHY??

dogs are a facinating species. i've a picture of a great dane and a chihuahua looking at each other (chihuahua is clearly about to wee itself in terror, great dane just looks confused)...how do you think that would turn out? surely not possible?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 04.12.07 22:11 UTC
The chi's I have met I could see the Great Dane lookign terrified   The ones at shows are confident and big dogs in little bodies.
- By Astarte Date 04.12.07 22:20 UTC
lol, suppose you need a lot of self possesion to exist in that tiny body. thought the pic was great, just shows the huge variation between breeds

The strangest cross I have heard of and seen is a SBT X Yorkshire Terrier!:eek:
Ive lost the picture now but I posted it on another forum, they were cute but I hated the people for doing it.
That was a weird cross and also head of a Whippet x Great Dane and a Jack Russell x Great Dane!!!

I did ask about these cosses as I thought How the hell could they do it??? But I didnt know that bitches will lay down to be mated!

when my aunts bullmastiff and frenchie bred he positioned her on the couch ! the result was like a miniture bullmastiff initally but eventually one ear popped up, then the other a few weeks later...corrie looked like a gremlin :D

(edited to add) this was definately not deliberate, they already thought she was pregnant (to a frenchie), had been sent away to stud!
