a few weeks ago i posted about my boxer pup, benson.i think i caused quite a lot of conversation as i got him at 7 weeks and the breeder was not very responsible cos she didnt worm him once before i got him at 7 weeks.anyhow after 3 visits to the vet, and 2 worm treatments in the 1st week i had him (vets instructions),things have calmed down gradually.i havent posted before now before i was extremely worried id jinx it.hes been ok for a couple wks now.for any1 who didnt know, benson had blood and mucus in his poo.it was suggested it was worms, however after his 1st treatment it carried on and the amount of blood seemed unreal for this problem.i visited the vets many times and they kept saying the same.3 days after his 1st treatment i went to the vets again who said it wouldnt do him any harm giving him another early, and guess what - it didnt!!!snd he is great now.hes been out for his 1st walks this wk after both his jabs.hes so obedient too,and he is so far been easy to train.the only one teeny thing we are having probs with is chewing.....!!im sure with persistence this will stop tho.thanks for all those who advised me on the issue and also the qoman rang me this week to say the papers should be delivered very soon...phew!

Great to hear that Benson is doing well! Keep up with the training it will make him a lovely dog, with regards to the chewing has he got lots of things that he can chew? (safe things) also you can spray any items that you don't want chewed that he is particularly fond of with anti chew sprays that you can get from your pet shop.

I hope that you have reconsidered putting him out to stud!

Very pleased to hear all is now well, at least he has come from an irresponsible breeder to a responsible owner. :-) He can now go from strength to strength and the forum is always here to help in any way as the breeder obviously would not be worth going back to for help or advice. :-(

Re: Puppy chewing, he will continue to chew and chew and chew :-) it helps to soothe new and growing teeth and then to dislodge his baby teeth and also helps him to learn strength of bite.  So just make sure that when you are not with him he is contained in an area where he can not damage anything precious to you and is given safe things to chew.

Jeangenie has a document on bite inhibition she recently posted it on Behaviour (8 week Staffie....)  it will also be very useful to you. :-)

Boxers can be big chewers, like coming back to no upholstery on your car seat, LOL :D
