Hi we are thinking of investing in a blaster, we have goldens, can anybody recommend a good model and where is the best place to get them?
Thanks in advance:cool:

I bought mine from HUB international. I have the Metro Airforce Commander.Paid about £130.00 for it and was advised that the smaller one that they had on offer (looked like a little dog kennel) wasn't strong enough to dry the coat of my Goldens. However, my friend took her Golden to a hydrotherapy pool the other day and they dried his coat with the same blaster!! There is one on their site at present that is about £70.00 plus VAT that they say dries a big dogs coat. If you haven't used one before, ensure that you put a folded towel around the dogs ears until they get used to the noise. Definitley money well spent.

I got the pet dog kennel one (not sure if they do it anymore) and it has coped very well with my Goldies and Sussex, a godsend with swimmers and mud addicts. If the £70 version Alison mentions is anything like the kennel version, I think it would cope well.

Thanks, just looked at their website and have emailed about the suitability of the cheaper one. We thought we would have to spend about £250!

Hi there

I was too thinking of buying a blaster or new powerful drier for my dogs. Im just sick of them coming in sopping wet and by the time they are dry its time to go out again!!
Also if Im bathing them for a show, takes me a good hour to dry one and I have to use two different hairdryers as they usually trip out with overheating.

I dont really know much about blasters but believe they are very good, however I was just reading some old posts on here Re:blasters and am I right in thinking they arent a drier with warm air?
If so Im confused, which would be the best sort of drier to buy to firstly get them dry quick after they are sopping wet, and secondly to dry them properly with a brush before going to a show?

I was hoping to purchase one at the LKA , which are the best please? can only spend up to a £100 however if this will only buy a rubbish one I would rather wait till I can afford a better model.

Many Thanks

The dryer is just cool air, however, as the motor warms up it tends to warm the air slightly. Having cool air means that it won't take the condition out of the coat.

I have a Metro air force master blaster (twin motor at £300) that I use for my Newfie. Very happy with it and yes it does blow warm air as the air moves over the motors inside the case to cool the motors. Depending on the temperature of the area you are using it in will effect the temperature of the air blown out.
The power  output is just within my limits on the house mains due to its amps and the air velocity is very powerful and able to blow with care all the dust and crap out of his hair. Its also quick for removing all the water after a bath.
Be warned the velocity of blowers can harm your dog if directed towards their face, ears and private parts.
Got mine at http://www.christiesdirect.com.
However I would think a single motor would be fine for you.

My Newfie loved it straight away and just stands there enjoying the all over body massage.

Being that I was once a calibration engineer working with velocities/air movement and wind tunnels I looked at various blasters, the motor output, type of impeller assy/motor design, their diameter of hose, its length and the most important part the funnel on the end. Just like the wind tunnel the funnel on the end is what has the last say in the air velocity speed regardless of motor power which too has a good part to play.
